Server costs should be presently be in the range of $80 - $100 a month for a single node capable of running an efficient witness, and most witnesses will launch between 2 and 4 of these. (A back up witness could get away with just one, though). A full RPC node will run more, maybe $200 - $300 a month.
I run 4 witness + 1 full, but it's still nothing compared to the costs of cheetah that I sometimes forget about node cost when I tackle my finances each month.
I suppose it makes sense that keeping a cheetah is not economically efficient.
