"Genuinely, really, I say to you, you will sob and mourn, however the world will cheer." (John 16:20)

For what reason does Jesus say this in the last hours of their distresses? Since hard things are more averse to shake your reality on the off chance that you know they are coming. This is Jesus' method for saying: The world will rub salt into the injury of your distress at my demise. Through your hurling wails, you will hear the jeering voices, "He spared others; let him spare himself, in the event that he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!" (Luke 23:35)

The followers need to know this. It is a piece of God's plan for their deliverance. Herod's taunting round of dress-ups with Jesus was a piece of the everlasting arrangement (Acts 4:27– 28). This "cheering" of the world at the demise of Jesus did not take Jesus unsuspecting. He knew the agonies of his withering would be intensified by hardhearted disparagement. "The world will celebrate."

The supporters need to know this. Knowing it doesn't make them less obligated to distress. Yet, it makes them less powerless in distress. Presently they realize that even the jeering delight of the executioners is a piece of God's arrangement. What's more, Jesus is stating to them: Though it is certain, it will be short.

Sort:

The glory to be revealed cannot be compared to anything in this world. There will be hard times and we will experience tribulations but we assured of a greater joy ahead.
This is a good reason enough for us to continue hoping in Jesus Christ our saviour.

That is a nice one "The supporters need to know this. Knowing it doesn't make them less obligated to distress. Yet, it makes them less powerless in distress. for those who will follow Jesus, there will be persecution and trial, that was why Jesus fore warned his disciples that they will be persecuted and killed for his sake but for those who will persevere, will be diligently rewarded with a place in heaven.

I agree with you brother abiye

So, yes, there will be tribulation. Sorrows of so many kinds in this fallen world we can’t count them. But the world that makes us so sorrowful will not have the last word. Therefore, the watchword of the Christian in this world is “sorrowful, yet always rejoicing” (2 Corinthians 6:10). Through every grief, we are being kept by the power of the Helper. Therefore, “you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials” (1 Peter 1:6).

for the individuals who will take after Jesus, there will be oppression and trial, that was the reason Jesus fore cautioned his trains that they will be abused and slaughtered for his purpose however for the individuals who will drive forward, will be constantly remunerated with a place in paradise.

I strongly agree with this. Though we see tribulation, we should be of good cheer because christ has overcame the world.

Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better. ... 4The mind of the wise is in the house of mourning, While the mind of fools is in the house of pleasure.

There is nothing comparable to Eternal Joy that awaits us in Heaven.
Human mind cannot comprehend it and no sorrow can fathom or overshadow it.
We all go through trying tines, but, I choose to be happy, encourage Myself in the Lord and rejoice in HIM.
