He came seeking us first!!

2 Corinthians 5:18 NLT
And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ.….
Taking a cue from the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11ff
This parable of the prodigal son is one of the parables I love to read always.
How the story unfolded is beyond human reasoning,
A normal human being will finds it difficult to pardon the son and not just that but to celebrate it with a feast as if nothing happened!
But I have come to realise that the THE LOVE OF GOD REVEALED IN SALVATION IS MORE THAN THIS DESCRIPTION
Looking at the story of the prodigal son, The father did nothing to bring the son back, it was the son that came to his senses one day and decided to go back.
Luke 15:18 KJVS
I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
It was vividly his choice, the acceptance was just of the father..
Looking at the scenario of our own salvation, the show of love was far more greater!
Just like the prodigal son, we were Lost, rebels.
But something amazing was that IT WAS THE FATHER THAT CAME LOOKING FOR US
We didn't come to our senses and immediately find our way to God. It was God that acted first, see this:
2 Corinthians 5:19 KJVS
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
source
It was man who sinned and rebel, It was God who acted! Reconciling back to himself and not imputing their faults to them again.
Romans 5:6,8 KJVS
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
[8] But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
The prodigal son had a repentant heart firstly and he acted on it, but in saving us, he didn't wait for us to have repentant heart and call on him to come, he came himself! He came seeking with love!
While we were yet rebellious and he brought salvation to us, saving us forever from our rebellion.
Marvelous Love of God!
He already said:
Luke 19:10 NLT
For the Son of Man came to SEEK AND SAVE THOSE WHO ARE LOST ."
When that is settled, the next thing is that:
ONLY ONE THING MATTERS
source
Luke 10:41-42 KJVS
And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: [42] But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Only one thing matters, only one thing is needful, you ought to be concerned with one thing, this is the statement Jesus said to Martha,
Humanly, Martha was doing the right thing, she was being courteous, virtuous, respectful and anything good you can think about but Jesus told her she's too concerned with many things so much that she lost sight of the only necessary thing
The mistake isn't that she was courteous or doing different works, the error is that she forgot the MAIN THING.. This perfectly describes this famous statement:
Matthew 16:26 KJVS
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Her other sister was commended, in fact Jesus said she has chosen the right thing to do that Martha ignored..
This right thing is:
Luke 10:39 NLT
Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord's feet, listening to what he taught.
Jesus honored this above the 'good deed' that Martha was doing, which means this is the will of God, the will of Jesus, what matters to him most.
He desires it above the food Martha was preparing!
No wonder he told the disciples one day when he abandoned food so as to preach the gospel, He said:
John 4:34 KJVS
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
This year is about to end, what have you engage yourself in most?
What did you spend the bulk of your time for the past few months doing?
Is it the will of God or those "good things" that the lord will term as nothing?
Were you busy as an usher and you forgot your personal devotion to him?
Is it your Academics?
Seeking for money?
Relationship?
Aren't all these things good and necessary? They are!! But to Jesus, only one thing matters!! Doing his will
The point is Above all these good things, God's will must be the greatest priority
His will is consistent fellowship with you through studying his words and meditating on it, through fervent prayers for yourself and others, and most importantly going out for evangelism.
All these things matters to God than any physical good thing you can offer him! God's inclinations is always to eternal things, this must be your inclinations too. 7 months is gone, make the right choices, shut down the appetites, the desires, and let's God's will reign.
