Tattoo as we all know involves drawing on the body, with ink, which tears up the flesh and makes it permanent. And as the word tattoo as been well known in the world today to be used by those in the entertainment industry and most people who are not actually following the way of the lord.
People have different reasons why they have tattoos, from the reasons ranging from , sad memories, happy memories, motivational memories as the list goes on. People have ttatto because they want to be able to have something to remind them who they are, or help them remember a lost family member or a quote about someone or something. But more to this, people have tattoos to for their own personal reasons.
Now as regards to Christianity, is a true Christian allowed to have tattoos and even if yes, what kind of tattoo? Most people get this tattoo before they are drawn to salvation, so when they become new convert, it's kind of impossible to remove it back, or most times when it's possible, it comes with a painful process, and expensive one too. So most times people who are now drawn to Christ leave the tattoo right there, but their heart is changed and that's what God is really interested about.
God does not care about how your past has been and how rough it all looked, and things you've done, but once you're for him, you're a new being under his creation. And everything is forgiving and your heart is directed towards his service.
CAN TATTOO BE USED FOR EVANGELISM?
To the best of my knowledge and understanding, I would say YES. At the beginning of this write up, I talked about the kind of people who mainly gets tattoo in the world today, and let's take for example, a gang member who has not found Christ and is still with the world in it dealings, and you as a Christian, with a little tattoo of maybe a cross or a Bible quote with verse. And most of these people, you can't really walk up to them and start a conversation about Christ just like that, it might result in a huge misunderstanding.
But imagine you walk into a bar, or you're sitting outside and a gang member saw your tattoo and he likes it and wanted to really know the meaning of your tattoo as a it's really looks good, but as a Christian that you are and the tattoo been all for the purpose of reminding yourself about how good God has been to you, you start a conversation with this gang member, telling him the meaning of the tattoo and expanding his knowledge towards the important of knowing Christ and been with him.
Now this tattoo on you as a Christian has not only bring someone to you, or you to the person, but also open a door of evangelism between you and someone you could not easily walk up to and start preaching.
Now this is a a positive move in the right direction towards winning souls for Christ.
Finally, I'll like to conclude that, the main aim and objective of the Christian faith is winning souls for Christ and making people follow the right direction reagrdless of their past. Cause anyone who finds Christ , is a new born in him and will meet him on the last day .
Have a great and wonderful day.
Thanks for sharing your opinion with SteemChurch, like we always say heartfelt expressions are appreciated. The topic is indeed a controversial one, we seem to agree with some points you raised.

Thank you for seeing some facts about this very controversial topic. I so much appreciate.
Thanks for sharing your opinion on the subject. I think it is one that concern many in my neighbourhood. Tattoos looks like fashion now a days, those without tattoos are viewed as if they are missing out. Checking the scriptures, we will see that it does not directly speak against it. It has to do with our morals.
Thanks for sharing on SteemChurch.
Morals is everything... Even Jesus made that clear. Love your neighbor as yourself. Thank you for understanding.
I think the issue on tatoos is definitely a controversial one. Tatoos are definitely attractive to view. But they are viewed as a sign of irresponsiblity by some. I think what is important is the motive behing getting the tatoo, the message the tatoo potrays and your personal beliefs. Cheers!!!
Exactly... It's more easy for people to remember memories through tattoo.
This question must be treated carefully for the magnification of the kingdom of christ.....l believe in some of your points raised and wish more lesson will be discuss on the amazing topic you wrote...
Exactly.. thank you for seeing some points in the importance of this topic.
You know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God, don't you? You do not belong to yourselves.
Exactly, our body is the sanctuary of the holy spirit and should be treated as such. That's why the Bible makes us understand that, he who finds christ, is a new creation in him, regardless of their sinful past.
It can pave way for evangelization for people who also have tattoos, cause they will be comfortable talking to you!
You just summarized my whole write up in few words... Amazing... Exactly my point. Thank you so much for understanding.
Controversial? Of course not.
I solely believe tattooing the body doesn't mean the heart has been tattooed. Let us leave judgement for it of the Lord and not of man. Tattoo has been a tradition in afica in the past and it surely has nothing to do with who they were in person. It is unclean to those who see it as being unclean.
Exactly my point, Christ himself is more interested in out soul, cause that's what he came to die for, he did not come to die for how physical appearance. The bible might now have made strict mention of tattoo, but Christ is more concern about our heart.
This is really controversial from my point of view if uou had tatto before being a christian it not wrong because you vehavior and actions it whst really degines you as a christian not the svar on your body because theirvare many witjout svars but still possess a big scar in thier avtions and bevaior as a chtistian
That's a legit good point, life before Christ, does not count, but life after Christ is the major deal. Because now you live in him and him in you.
This is a very controversial topic and I don't really know any bible verse that speaks about this but from my own point of view I feel it is wrong for a christian to draw a tatoo on his/her body. You can't go out preaching the gospel looking like a gangster because you want to relate easily because even the gangsters won't see you as a true child of God except maybe the tattoo was from your past life when you were not born again
Read the write up again and understand the point my brother. I said "most of the tattoos are gotten BEFORE they are called to serve Christ" not after.
Good post and thanks for sharing your opinion. Though the Bible does not talk about tattoo but what are side effect of tattoo. If the effect comes, are we going to say it is from God or we are tempted? James 1:13-14.
That the world are using tattoo does not mean we have to use it. Don't forget that we should not be unequally yoked with unbeliever 2 Corinthians 6:14. And this evangelism, is about God who convinces heart not any human work or effort.
I will therefore say tattooing for gospel should not be encouraged.
