But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
Matthew 23:11
When God gives you the opportunity to serve others, then it simply means He wants to elevate you to higher heights. From a careful study of the scriptures, it is seen that almost all the great men served under others before their rising. Moses served Jethro his in-law as a shepherd before God ordained him ( Exodus 3:1); Joshua also served under Moses before he took over the mantle of leadership over Israel( Exodus 24:13). Samuel also, before he was ordained as a prophet served the Priest Eli in the temple ( 1 Samuel 3:1). These and many others like Joseph, David, Elisha and Nehemiah all had the opportunity of serving others before God promoted them to their final position.
Like almost all other things in the kingdom of God, service is a seed. When you sow it, you reap the harvest of so many other people also serving you. Therefore, anytime you are put in a position to serve, do it with all diligence knowing that it is a sure route to your rising.
LIFE APPLICATION
Never perceive the act of serving others as humiliation or ego diminishing; rather, know that it is a door that heralds your future greatness.
PRAYER
Lord give me a heart that longs to serve.
