But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen
2Peter 3:18
The words of the Apostle Peter in the above scripture makes it clear that it is the responsibility of the believer to grow in grace. Every christian was given a measure of grace in the day he or she believed in Christ. And after that he is suppose to work out for his growth in grace.
You don't sleep and wake up one time to expect walking in an incredible or strange grace, you've got to work it out. When you check our opening text it says we should grow in grace and knowledge. The "and" use here is the Greek "kai" which means that is or also. So in other words growing in grace is the same as increasing in the knowledge of God.
After receiving Christ as your Lord and personal Savior the next thing is to learn the word of God to be transformed into the very image of Christ. The standard for every Christian is Christ and God has set things in place so that we can meet the standard. But our meeting of God's standard is by our increase in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Most believers of today do not like studying the word of God or things of the Spirit but they want to experience greater grace. Before the disciples experience greater grace as recorded in the book of Acts, the bible says that the dedicated themselves to fellowshipping with the word and prayer.
Beloved grow in grace as you increase your knowledge in Christ.
