Hunger And Thirst For God

God promises to satisfy our HUNGER and our HEAD! No doubt all men have spiritual needs just as our physical bodies need food and water.

In II Corinthians 4:18 we read: "We do not look at the things that are seen, but those that are not seen, for what they see are temporary, but what is seen is eternal."

This word alerts us to the spiritual reality, which is much more serious and real than our material world. If our physique needs to be fed so that we can live healthily, much more our spirit! If we do not eat or drink for too long, we weaken and we will be subjected to all kinds of diseases, which if not treated in time, will lead to death.

Does not the same thing happen to our spiritual man? So that we do not run that risk is that there is HUNGER and HEADQUARTERS, a mechanism that sends an alert to our brain saying we need to eat or drink. What happens, then, is that we eat or drink and we are satisfied or satiated; and we no longer hunger or thirst until the process is repeated.

Spiritually the same thing happens! This, of course, with the children of God whose spirits were vivified with the new birth in Christ Jesus. Those who are in the world continue to be dead in their crimes and sins; and their spirits and hunger are not, for they are dead. If so, why have we fed so little of God? If this is true, why when we gather to pray, praise and hear the ministry of the Word of God, some give us the impression that they have arrived at the meeting, satiated and fed, as they do not prove to be hungry for the presence and anointing of the Holy Spirit? Why so many times do we not manage to be at the feet of the Lord for about 15 minutes in our house?

The answer to these questions is: HUNGER and HEADQUARTERS! And in fact we have hungered and thirst for God, because it is impossible for someone who has been born again not to have that need in their spirit, just as it is impossible for a person not to feel hunger and thirst. It is not an option of ours, but a necessity that becomes independent of our will. Only disease takes away our hunger.

But as we saw earlier, there is another important factor, if we are fed or satiated we no longer hunger and thirst. What am I meaning to say with that? The obvious, someone who is fed and satiated no longer needs to eat or drink. For example, being on the street I make a snack and I accompany her with a lot of Coca-Cola) and I can not see anything "edible" in front of me anymore.

Then I arrive home and my husband waits for me with a surprise: he asked my daughters to prepare a delicious cake. I can even try to eat a little, out of consideration for them or even for myself, but certainly not even the best cake in the world will be well appreciated and tasted in such a situation. There is food and good food, but there is no hunger. And when there is no hunger we can not eat.

This happens spiritually too: we hunger and thirst for God, but on the way we have been tempted, like Jesus, to eat what the devil offers us. Only unlike Jesus, many times we feasted on the filth offered by Satan, the world, our own flesh, our good intentions, our worries and anxieties, etc. Then, little by little, we have less and less hunger for God, since we have been satiated and fed with so many other things. And sometimes even with "things of God," at least with things that we believe are of God. But nothing can replace God himself, the source and source of life.

This is the solution: allow us to feel hungry and thirsty. Let us draw close to God, hungry and thirsty for his presence. Sit at your table and enjoy your abundance. But for this, it is necessary that we reject the offerings of the devil, the works of the flesh, and stop eating or "pinching" the king's delicacies and delicacies (apparently always very attractive and tasty, but never nutritious) and we become attached to the Lord and, to the Word, as Jesus did, who resisted the devil because he knew that man does not need only bread, but everything that comes from the mouth of the Lord; and more: he made the will of God his food and his drink (Jn 4, 34).

It is necessary to desire God, to hunger and thirst for God, because in the intensity of our longing is the greatness of our life. Very well @bertah1 blessings that abound.
