Morning guys, this is my first post in steemchurch, I thank @sirknight and the apostles for all the good work they do, keep it up. I want to talk about the concept of work and how it relates to us as Christians.
Christianity is a faith based religion. The bible says that with faith as small as a mustard seed great things can happen. I also believe that there is a time for everything, a time for prayer and a time to work. People sometimes don't get this, you don't pass exams by just praying but by studying as well, you can't go from point A to point B by praying, you have to actually board a bus. You can't manufacture a product by just praying alone, you have to employ the factors of production. Trust me I know that there are exceptions because for sure, prayer can do all things. I am an advocate for balancing your work and prayer life. They should both have their place, one shouldn't replace the other.
The bible has some really great verses in regards to hard work and diligence. Proverbs 14v23(KJV) says;
In all labor there is profit, but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
Basically, "all talk and no work makes jack a poor boy". Just talking about your plans,goals and ambition isn't enough, action needs to be taken to bring forth those dreams to life. Proverbs 22v29(KJV) says;
Seest thou a man diligent in his business, He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
Diligence, hardwork and perseverance are rewarded with praise and honour eventually. Diligence encompasses earnestness and consistency. Being Christians, attitude is everything. What is your attitude towards work? Do you netflix and chill when you ought to be working? Do you give excuses when work comes up? Do you go to work early sometimes and go late on other days? Sometimes employees of a company have a lackadaisical attitude towards their job just because they feel they have no personal stake in the success or failure of the company. All this is wrong. Our God abhors laziness, he blesses the faithful, he rewards the diligent and exalts the humble.
The beauty of life is in it's transiency, knowing that we all would die someday, we have to make the most of the available time. Let's lead lives of meaning, lives of purpose, let your presence be felt wherever you find yourself.
Ecclesiastes 9v10(NIV) says;
Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.
Go out there and start something, pray about it and let God guide you, He assures us in Deuteronomy 28v6(NLT);
Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed.
Stay Blessed.
