EPHESIANS 4:25-28
Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Stealing and dishonest work destroys the personality and soul of the perpetrator; it cripples his abilities and destroys his creativity. Those who steal inadvertently declare their weakness and failure. That's why God wants them to desist from stealing and do honest work with their hands, according to our scripture for today.
Doing honest work with our hands gives us the opportunity to express the perfections of God deposited within our spirit. It is God's design that you work in this world not to just meet your needs, but because there’s so much within you the world can benefit from and there is much more to life than just meeting our needs
Matthew 6: 25-26
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?Natural circumstances may try to force you to believe your job or business is your means of livelihood, but refuse to let such a thought rule your life. The Bible didn't say “Work, that you may be rich”; rather, it says, “work that you may have to give“ (Ephesians 4:28).
Someone might say, “I rob or do dishonest work and I give some to the less-privileged”; that's wrong. You can't “rob Peter to give to Paul". If you want to be a giver, do honest work with your hands. Robbery or dishonest work isn't part of work because it hurts others. Your job ought to be a medium or channel through which you bless others and make the world a better place. It doesn't matter how much you're paid at your job or business, do your job with excellence, shun mediocrity, and the Lord will promote you.
