HOW TO BE A PERSON OF INFLUENCE

in #steemchurch5 years ago (edited)

Let me ask you a question: what do you think about the word influence? Perhaps many ideas go through your mind, for example, if we talk about children, you may have the image of an influence that you want to exert on them, with moral, ethical and spiritual values.

John Maxwell is a highly recognized writer in all fields, many people have read his incredible books and agreed on many of his concepts of leadership and influence on people. Maxwell is a person with an impressive integrity and an incredible mentor, and in this article I want to talk a little about a subject that hit me in one of his books that I read recently: "Let's be people of Influence."

This book explains different points that he considers vital to become people of influence, real and lasting influence, based on extremely positive concepts.

Divide the influence into 4 levels: Model, Motivation, Mentor and Multiplication. Model is simply that people do what you do by simple reference, Motivation is when you start to sincerely care about people becoming a caregiver, Mentor is when you live your life for the growth of others and Multiplication when you create more people of influence at levels Motivation or higher.

Influential people have a profound impact with all beings around them. However, this is only achieved because they have great control over themselves.

Influential leaders have these nine habits:

1.- They think for themselves

These people do not get carried away by trends or public opinion.

2.- They are disruptive

These individuals are never satisfied with the status quo. They are the ones who always ask "What if we did things differently?"

3.- They inspire the conversation

When influential people speak, what they say expands like waves in the water.

4.- They know how to make contacts

These people know the secret of lasting connections. Not only do they know many people, they have relationships with their contacts.

5.- They only focus on what is really important

These individuals are not distracted by trivialities. They are able to eliminate static and dull noise from day to day to focus on what is really important.

6.- Appreciate the discussions

These types of human beings do not react defensively every time they find another person who has a different point of view from theirs.

7.- They are proactive

Influential people do not wait for new ideas and technologies to fall from the sky; They seek to reach these things.

8.- Respond instead of reacting

If someone criticizes influential people for making a mistake or if a collaborator is wrong, these people do not react emotionally.

9.- Have faith

Influential people always expect the best. They believe in their own power to achieve their dreams and think that other people have the same capacity.

Do you consider yourself an influential person? To be a person of influence, we must be whole in our way of thinking and acting, we must listen to others and try to understand those who approach us. This means being more empathetic, more understanding and even more expressive with those who are close to us. Listening without judging, a hug in the midst of anguish, or a pleasant conversation that breaks the silence, can be factors that influence and help an individual to be a happier person.

Following the example of Jesus' life we discover that:

  1. JESUS WAS CLEAR
    John 6. 38 to 40 and 6. 60 to 67
Santiago and Juan - San Marcos 10. 35 to 38
The young rich man - San Mateo 19. 16 to 30

  2. JESUS IBA AT THE MEETING OF THE PEOPLE
    The Samaritan woman
    The paralytic of Bethesda
    The man born blind

  3. JESUS SHARES MUCH MORE THAN SPIRITUAL
    Mark 3. 14 - «To be with him»
    Travels
Jesus is played by any aspect of people's need
    Hard, good, social moments.

  4. JESUS WAS EXAMPLE
    John 13. 15 - Example I have given you ... (in everything)
    Talk
    Think
    Act
    Luke 11. 1
    1st Timothy 4. 12

  5. JESUS HAD DIFFERENT VALUES
    1 - Love God
    2 - Love people
Us: Me - Everything Now - Satisfaction for me.

  6. JESUS RECOGNIZES HIS DISABILITY
John 5. 30 - In humility and dependence on his Father

  7. JESUS DOES NOT CONDEMN
    John 8. 11 - The adulteress

  8. JESUS OCCUPIED THE PLACE OF THE HELP
John 5. 3 to 9 - Jesus did something that was the opposite of what society did.

  9. JESUS WAS OBEDIENT TO WHAT GOD WANTED
    John 12. 50 - Without questioning what God sends us - John 8. 28 -
John 12. 27 - Still in the middle of the conflict.

  10. JESUS DELIVERED HIMSELF FOR OTHERS
    Jesus got muddy by others.

“We have nothing to do with people who take drugs”
“We have nothing to do with people who steal”

He came to look for what was lost (Luke 19.10)

How can you? influence others?

Are you encouraged to follow the example of Jesus?

Each person we advise is unique and we must try to understand them and discern where their path is leading. Since God has made us all clearly different with very different experiences, "putting them all in the same mold" may not work properly for them.

David was a leader who was confident. But not a self-centered trust, but trust in God: «With your support I will launch myself against an army; with you, my God, I will be able to assault walls ”(v.29). David recognizes that he needed God to:

Protection
"Shield is God to those who take refuge in him" (v.30b) "You cover me with the shield of your salvation" (v.35).

Strength
«It is he who arms me with courage and straightens my path; It gives my feet the lightness of the deer, and keeps me firm in the heights ”(vv. 32–33).

we must make an Intentional investment in the lives of those whom God placed under our tutelage. We need to continually make deposits in their lives, just as the apostle Paul did with his protected Timothy.

The manager is always being watched. The rest of the collaborators, by their very nature, end up following the behaviors that come to them from above. Therefore, managers have to ask themselves: What is the behavior model that I represent for my employees? Hence, the manager knows how to answer questions such as: How can I communicate more effectively with my collaborators emotionally?

Being called by God to influence others is an extraordinary privilege, but it also carries a great responsibility.

Thanks so much for thus great publication. I have learnt to step out of the boat and be a person of influence
