Steemchurch:Save your heart, say no to envy

The envy

Envy is a very common psychological phenomenon that makes many people suffer greatly. Both the envious and their victims. It can be mild or intense, simple or complex, conscious or unconscious, explicit or involved in some neurotic symptoms ... There is no "healthy" envy. Envy is always a painful feeling of frustration for some lack that, being ours, it seems to us that others do not have, so we suffer against them, consciously or unconsciously, a great hostility.

The forms of expression of envy are innumerable. For example, criticism, murmuring, insults, disdain, rejection, aggression, domination, repression, black humor, rivalry, defamation, revenge ... On an individual scale, envy is often part of many psychological disorders (some complex, anxieties, depressions , bad treatments...).
Where do the wars and lawsuits between you come from? Is it not from your passions, which fight in your members?
You lust, and you do not have; you kill and burn with envy, and you can not reach; you fight and fight, but you do not have what you want, because you do not ask.
You ask, and you do not receive, because you ask evil, to spend on your pleasures. James.4: 1-3
I found two very strong meanings about envy;
It means in its origin, burn, then the color that is produced in the face by a deep emotion and, consequently, ardor, fervor, zeal.
Envy; sadness or regret of the good of others

Santiago, is giving us a teaching beyond what our physical eyes can read; look, he asks, where do wars and lawsuits come from? It is of the utmost importance that we stop and meditate on what he is talking about before making a more comprehensive description of envy.
He says that wars and lawsuits in our home, at school, at work, in the neighborhood, in the city, in the country, and in the world, come from our passions, which means that envy, greed, jealousy, are simply the evidence of the disordered passions that inhabit the heart of the human being ... the roots of bitterness ... That is, they have a room where they dwell in our soul, and simply when the opportunity arises they leave his dwelling and are evident, sprouting in us that rotten and unpleasant feeling that is characteristic of passions such as envy.
The first time the word Envy is used in the Bible, it is in Genesis: 30.1, and it says; "When Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, she envied her sister, and said to Jacob, Give me children, or else I die." ... this woman was not interested in getting pregnant for a correct purpose, but rather that was eating her, was that her sister Leah, if she had given her husband Jacob children, she just wanted to compete, because unfortunately, this was her security, having children for her husband, and not for the Glory of God, and thus, he would not be left behind by his sister Lea ... probably this was the cause of his sterility, the envy of his heart ... how much care we must have, when asking something of the Lord ... we must make sure we have the right intention, to have the intention according to his will and not ours.
Our attitude can be very sad, when we do not stop to meditate on why, or why, we want to do something ... when we simply get carried away by a sick feeling, which causes us so much damage, and leads us to cause it to those around us ... Colossians 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.
If I expose myself to the Word of God and to prayer, I will be washed, regenerated and changed by the breath of eternal life that comes from the mouth of GOD.
Dear brother, dear sister, as always two options, asking to satiate my heart full of envy, or understanding that everything I do should glorify the name of Jesus. It's up to you.

Tips to handle envy

• Analyze how it affects you
Envy makes you an insecure person, exhausting the energy that you could devote to something more positive, which makes you lose the time you could take advantage of to achieve your goals and above all ruin your friendship with others.

• Talk to a friend
Although it is difficult to recognize that we feel envious and that it hurts us, it would be very helpful to talk with your brother or sister, friend, cousin or cousin, someone who can help you channel what you are feeling positively.

• Write about your feelings
Even if you consider it a fad, writing a diary is a great way to free yourself from your feelings and deal with negative emotions.

• Read the Bible
Searching the scriptures will help us know what purpose God has placed in your heart.

• Forgive yourself
Take a moment to forgive yourself and forgive the person you envy. Feeling resentment towards someone because he succeeds will only make you depressed.

• Focus on your talents and advantages
When you manage to stop comparing yourself, identify your advantages, your positive qualities and your skills, so you can become better at the things you know how to do and get the way to learn and achieve those you have not yet achieved.

If you can not rejoice in what others have, ask God to remind you of the amount of blessings, gifts, talents he has given you, and how many of them are wasted.
Envy takes away the joy and happiness of our lives.

Hebrews 13: 5
Be your habits without greed,
happy with what you have now.

Philippians 2: 3
Do nothing out of selfishness or vainglory, but with a humble attitude, each of you consider the other as more important than yourself,

Romans 12:10
Be affectionate to one another with brotherly love; with honor, give preference to one another;

Galatians 5:26
Let us not become vainglorious, provoking one another, envying one another.

Philippians 1:17
They proclaim Christ by personal ambition, not with sincerity, thinking of causing me anguish in my prisons.

Colossians 3:12
Then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with tender compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience;

1 Peter 3: 8

In conclusion, be all of one mind, compassionate, fraternal, merciful and humble spirit.
