Hello fellow parishioners of steemchurch and dear readers, trust you are doing pretty good?!
Well in this post, we shall be considering a very important topic; so critical in the progressive advancement of any group, especially God's people and the church in general.
About two weeks ago, I did a blog post with the title "The 9 Knightly Qualities Of A Great Leader". But in this write-up which is somewhat related to the former, we shall carefully analyse 3 Qualities Of A Questionable Leader... It's my earnest desire that this post will not only resonate with your mind but will bless real good.
As a matter of fact, this analysis will be done in sync with Jesus' teaching in Mathew 23, in form of a diatribe to the Pharisees.
The "Angry" Jesus
He pointed some very outstanding infamous attributes of the Pharisees, whose effects should be readily killed out by true believers in the crusade of freedom (in the voice of @sirknight). Smiling!
Truly, bondage exists in different forms. For example, an organization, state or country that is not ruled by the right set of leaders is no doubt under a bondage. This is because leadership problem (being led by the wrong personalities) can prevent growth, development, and other good things that a people would genuinely desire.
Here are the 3 Qualities Of A Questionable Leader
#1. They Say, and Do Not
This was the first Ill quality that Jesus pinpointed to His disciples, and then admonished them not live their lives based on what they see the Pharisees ("red fishes" i.e. bad leaders) do. Matthew 23:3
So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
It's so unfortunate, even though we may not want to admit it, that many leaders in our homes, schools, corporate organizations, and even some churches fall under this category.
#2. Selfish Interest
Christ from verse 4-7 of Mathew 23 explains how this supposed leaders-- questionable leaders (the Pharisees) lead others blindly, with the wrong motive. This is one of the attributes to spot out a terrible leader from the terrific ones; who is always interested in their own bellies, account and benefits-- how they can use others to actualise this selfish interests.
And a such, Christ as a problem solver didn't just complain about this attribute; he recommended a way out. Let's look at the verse 11.
#3. Hypocritical Tendencies
Although, it may appear very mild, but the severe truth is that the world is full of deceit... hypocrites here and there! And it is just so gloomy that a greater portion constitute those at the helm of affairs. Who are they? Bad leaders! Who ought to be causing so much positive change in their sphere to the glory of God, and for the betterment of lives of their people; instead they are full of extortion and excess (according to the wording of Jesus in the 25th verse)
Nevertheless, even as I conclude this piece, it is needful to point out that everybody is a leader in some ways wherever they are. On this note, you and I can either choose to be a good or bad leader.
Remember, Jesus' word: "He that must be the greatest among you shall be the servant". This is the mindset of true and godly leaders. Choose to be one!
