Contentment

Greetings to fellow parishioners of the @steemchurch, appreciation to the noble @sirknight, founder of the first church on the steemit blockchain, a platform to crusade for freedom.
Today I want to share with you my thoughts on the issue of Contentment in the life of a believer.

In life, the drive that fuels most persons efforts is the desire to be successful and achieve things that can make them lead a comfortable life without lack. But the reality is that after each goal that is achieved, more will be desired and also there is continuous effort to achieve this goal. This is the typical human nature. Just as the body's nature constantly push for sinning against God, so does the human nature continue to have wants upon wants, hence the saying "human want is insatiable".

Wanting more is not a bad thing since it is our nature to always have want, it only gets bad when we misplace our priority and place our wants first. When our desire to be successful becomes our top priority, it takes the place of God in our lives and make us throw caution to the wind in the bid to reach that goal. So it will continue to happen since we would always want more and before you know, it last through a lifetime. In other words, our desires can make us do anything to achieve them, even make us not mind going out of God's way so far we feel it will make us get them.

Contentment is a virtue believers should possess in their arsenal against sin. Contentment does not mean we would not want more, it means knowing the worth of what you currently have and being satisfied with it, and having it at the back of your mind that more can come only with time and patience. This way there is peace within ourselves and the knowledge of our current achievements and possessions will make us very thankful to God, which creates room for more blessings. A content heart is a thankful heart. Seeking to get a closer relationship with God should be our priority and nothing else. Being content with our presence state will help us have this close relationship. All other good things will come added to it, this is what the Bible tells us in
Matthew 6:32-33

For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:32-33 NIV

This means success follows us when we seek God first instead of seeking success. So even if we have little, nothing or very much, we should always be content with what we have.

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:12-13 NIV

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5 NIV

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.
1 Timothy 6:10-11 NIV

Contentment is a great gain. So many people are not contented with what they have and they always want more this is a very bad act. Some can go ahead to even collect what others have just because they want more.

The Bible has a great deal to say about contentment—being satisfied with what we have, who we are, and where we’re going.
Jesus said, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?”

Simple, choose satisfaction over greed!

contentment simply means having satisfaction with what we own and what we have, simply put as Christians, we must not be like Gehazi the servant of Elisha, he coveted after vain things and paid dearly for it.
As Christians we must always learn to be satisfactied, thank God for the one he's given us and pray for God to take any sign of the spirit of grief.

This is the second time I am reading on this topic is really a virtue a Christian ought to possess because not being contented with what we have brought about greediness which can make a person commit atrocities trying to purchase that which he doesn't have.

Thanks for sharing this with us, But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Shalom

as children of God, we should know that contentment is a virtue we all should posses. in every form of what we possess, we should thank God and don't bite more than we can chew.those who are content, will receive more than we thought.

The Bible says godliness with contentment is great gain....

I once learnt that Christians some times do not feel okay anytime God has done things in their life .
Learn to appreciate what God has given you any time any moment. Sometimes men feel that they are not loved by christ as his neighboring Christian but we should always remember that the life he has given us is mite than anything we are seeking in the world .
For the little God gives you always appreciate it so much because he is always willing to do more I'm our lives.

Everything we do we have to make them joyful and if it is true when you say that the need of the human being is insatiable, but let's do it to please God and we will be successful. Blessings thank you for sharing dear friend @dyz7
