The church in Ephesus, many years after Paul founded it, had cooled his love for God and his burning desire to serve had died down. Christ warns him of the eminent destruction if they do not repent and return to their first love and fervor for the Eternal. What of this first love? Is it more than a mere emotion that feels to be saved? What about the moment of commitment? The church in Ephesus had a lot of knowledge and method, but they lacked the inner quality of heart.
The bible tells us the story of Simon, son of Jonas, The Most High asks him, do you love me? He does not even ask: do you believe in my doctrines? Do you trust now in the one you denied the other day? Nor does he ask you, do you please my commandments? No, he does not ask any of these questions, but the only question is, do you love me? I mean, you feel a personal bond for me, for me.
The love of Jesus is the vital and essential point that must be considered. Knowing Christ is the greatest thing.
Total love with God must be in the first place, our heart has to be filled with God, let's think about it as Martin LLoyne said:
Each thought is thinking of him, each heartbeat is for the love of Jesus, each step of our feet is to run to him, and each longing of the soul is only for him.
True love separates us from the world to consecrate ourselves to the Lord, it also separates us from sin and there will be in us a constant desire to cleanse ourselves from all contamination in relation to:
Dear brothers, since we have these promises, let us cleanse ourselves of everything that can contaminate our body or spirit.
2 Corinthians 7: 1
True love yields fruit by developing inner character, love, joy, peace, kindness, humility, faith, and temperance.
Beloved, let us return to the first love that Christ longs to see restored in the church, let's not leave for later. Tomorrow it might be too late. Remember the sad end of the fatuous virgins. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Love makes the hero when the spirit of God rests on us and ignites love, inspires us with courage.
