What is the most important part of a tree ?. Will their leaves? ... Will their branches or their fruits?

The example of a tree planted by streams of water

Psalm 1: 1-3

Blessed is the man who did not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
He was not in the way of sinners,
Nor has he sat in the seat of scoffers;
But in the law of the Lord is his delight,
And in his law he meditates day and night.
It will be like a tree planted by streams of water,
That bears fruit in its time,
And his leaf does not fall;
And whatever he does shall prosper.

The most important part of a tree is undoubtedly its roots. This is where the tree feeds and absorbs all its nutrients and, of course, the water that produces its growth.

The deeper the roots, the more stability a tree will have, and not only that, but it also feeds better since the deeper its roots are the more water it will get

A tree is in the external what in its roots. A person is in the external what is in the internal also.

When we see a tree that is strong and that can stand before the winds and storms it is only because its roots are healthy and deep.
How are the roots in your life? What things do we have rooted in our hearts?

Matthew 5: 6

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

What are you hungry for? What are you thirsty for?.

If our spiritual roots are superficial and of pure appearance, surely we can not bear the adversities and storms of life and soon we will fall with the slightest thing that comes into our lives.

That is why God works by healing the innermost part of man and then recomposing the external.

Psalm 103: 3-5

He is the one who forgives all your iniquities,
He who heals all your ailments;
The one who rescues your life from the hole,
The one who crowns you with favors and mercies;
The one that satisfies your mouth well
So that you rejuvenate yourself like the eagle.

How can we take deep roots in our spiritual life?

We are going to see some points that will give us the possibility that our lives are grounded in God, like a tree planted by streams of water.

1. Having the Bible as a spiritual guide

Psalm 119: 92-98

If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget your commandments, because with them you have made me alive. Yours is me, save me, For I have sought your commandments. The wicked have waited for me to destroy me, but I will consider your testimonies. To all perfection I have seen an end, Your commandment is exceedingly great.Mem Oh, how much I love your law! All day long it is my meditation. You have made me wiser than my enemies with your commandments, Because they are always with me.

Dedicating time to study, reading and meditation will help to know the heart of God. If we do not affirm ourselves in His Word we will be weak in the face of adversities in this world

2. Having intimacy with God, a time alone with Him; for He wants to talk to us.

Matthew 6: 6

But you, when you pray, enter your room, and close the door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you in public.

We must take time with God to grow and take deep roots in our relationship with Him.

3. Transforming our life with the Word of God. Remember that it is not only reading but applying it in all areas of our life.

Luke 6: 46-49

Why do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say?
Everyone who comes to me, and hears my words and does them, will indicate to you who is similar.
It is similar to the man who, in building a house, dug and deepened and laid the foundation on the rock; and when a flood came, the river struck with force against that house, but it could not move it, because it was founded on the rock.
But he who heard and did not, is like a man who built his house on earth, without foundation; against which the river gave impetus, and then it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.

4. Asking God for revelation of his will for our life.

James 1: 5

And if any of you lacks wisdom, ask God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to you.

5. Not ceasing to congregate, actively being part of the vision of God (a family, a body).

Hebrews 10: 23-25

Let us hold firm, without fluctuating, the profession of our hope, because faithful is the one who promised.
And let us consider one another to stimulate love and good works;
not ceasing to assemble, as some are accustomed, but exhorting us; and all the more, as you see that day is approaching.

God is willing to give us the food and nutrients necessary for our spiritual life to produce deep roots capable of withstanding any adversity.

But you have to be wise and know that in order to grow you have to remove everything that prevents growth.
Ask God to reveal to you in the light of His Word, what things, habits or sins are obstructing your growth, and ask for forgiveness and set aside for you to grow and your life to be useful in the Kingdom of God.

Jeremiah 17: 7,6

Blessed is the man who trusts in Jehovah, and whose trust is Jehovah.
For it will be like a tree planted by the waters, which will lay its roots by the stream, and will not see when the heat comes, but its leaf will be green; and in the year of drought he will not be weary, nor will he fail to bear fruit.

A tree planted next to an inexhaustible source of water does not wither in the heat or during a drought. If we are people who have strong roots in God, our strength will come from an inexhaustible source ... our Heavenly Father, the Almighty God.

Finally, let's remember the initial Psalm, where God's promise was**

Psalm 1: 1-3

Blessed is the man who did not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
He was not in the way of sinners,
Nor has he sat in the seat of scoffers;
But in the law of the Lord is his delight,
And in his law he meditates day and night.
It will be like a tree planted by streams of water,
That bears fruit in its time,
And his leaf does not fall;
And whatever he does shall prosper.

Of course, the man and the tree are very different, but the foliage of a tree planted next to a place where there is much water reminded the psalmist of the spiritual prosperity of the man whose "delight is in the law of Jehovah."
If we delight in the law of God, our days can become like those of a tree, always bearing fruit and firm in spite of all circumstances, because God is the one who sustains us.

Blessings!!

Hello! I find your post valuable for the wafrica community! Thanks for the great post! @wafrica is now following you! ALWAYs follow @wafrica and use the wafrica tag!

Amen on this! I love this from beginning to end! They say a healthy tree has as much mass beneath the soil as it does above the ground. Also many trees have many smaller roots, but in the middle is one very large root that is called a tap root. It goes pretty much strait down and it is very strong.
Our spiritual health and fruit that comes is directly dependent on our depth in God’s Word and, as you said, intimacy or closeness to God!
Thank you for this great meal!
God bless!
Daddy William

Thanks you!!

You have my prayers and love!

Great post. Like a tree if we have our roots firmly grounded in the will/way of God, we cannot wither, but we will bring forth fruit in due season. It takes feeding on the word of God which sustains our spiritual life and building a relationship with God so that we know what is his will for our lives. Blessings

Excellent brother, thank you for your good comment. Blessings.

All my strength comes from the Lord. The word of God is all truth and wisdom.
