"The fire shall burn perpetually on the high mountain, it must not be extinguished" Leviticus 6:6-13
Frustrated, the woman left the museum and went to a bookstore, where she bought a book of Monet's paintings, which included the work in question. With the book in hand, she returned to the Museum and compared the book to the painting. Then she called the New York Times art critic, and together they made it known through the media that for a period of almost 4 months, in front of thousands of visitors and numerous art critics, the painting of the boat on the water was hung upside down. It took a passionate woman to make a difference.
What does that have to do with the message?
We live in a culture where something seems to be wrong. When we compare what we see in the Word of God with what we see in the world, things seem to be upside down. Sin is exalted, justice is ridiculed. And we are told that all is well.
What needs to be done to correct the ship of moral decay in our society today? Men and women, like many of you, are needed who have a passion for Christ.
In Leviticus chapter 6, vers. 6 to 13 that serve as the basis for this message.
One thing is evident through these verses. The fire of the altar was to be permanently lit, it was not to be weakened, much less extinguished, it was to be continuous and constant. Three times in these short verses God says: "Keep the fire burning. Never allow it to go out.
When the passion for Jesus Christ withers in a man's heart, when the fire on the altar weakens in a woman's heart, the home begins to suffer. When the home begins to suffer, the church begins to weaken. When the church weakens, it is no longer a beacon for society, and society falls into moral decay. Brethren, the hope for Bolivia and for the world is the CHURCH, which must be filled with redeemed men and women who have burning hearts for Christ. "Keep the fire burning. You must never let it go out."
REVIVES THE FIRE OF THE GIFT OF GOD
We have to fan the fire of God's gift. In 2 Tim. St. Paul writes to his young disciple and friend, Timothy.
Timothy was exactly like many of you. He had been raised in a Christian home. He had had a godly mother and grandmother. He had been taught by the apostle Paul, and was working in Christian ministry. Paul had a concern for Timothy, his son in faith, that the fire in his heart would begin to decay, that his passion for Jesus Christ would begin to die.
If the passion for Jesus Christ in your life, the fire on the altar of your heart has begun to cool down, fan the fire. Blow the coals on the altar of your heart.
Use the resources God has given us.
Most of the things that God has taught me, I have learned through failure. Have you tried to live the Christian life by your own efforts, with your own resources? I have done it. What I have found is frustration and defeat. Jesus says, "Separated from me, they can do nothing. God's resources are more than sufficient resources. And if we are going to keep the fire burning on the altar of our hearts, we must learn to live with God's resources.
Do you want to keep the fire of your heart burning and have a passion for Jesus Christ? The government won't help you, neither will your business. God is your resource.
Let us keep the fire burning on our altar of heart. Let it never be extinguished.
The fire of the altar was lit by the same God, but it was the duty of the priests to keep it, God has sent us his Holy Spirit, he has sent us his fire, but it is necessary that you and I keep it burning in our lives.
"Altar", in Hebrew means "Place of Sacrifice" - we need to meet him every day. Romans 12: 1, tells us to present ourselves as a living sacrifice, we no longer need a kid, nor an ox, the sacrifice that today corresponds to us as Priests of the new covenant is our own life, you and I have to present ourselves to God all days for his fire to burn everything in us and thus be a living sacrifice to him.
