Good morning church, Happy Good Friday morning to you all!
Why do we call it 'Good' friday? It must mean that something Good happened on a friday many years ago.
Today there is so much talk about doing good for humanity, when a person makes a discovery in medicine, or comes up with a revolutionary scientific invention we refer to them as doing good for humanity and even give out a Nobel Prize to them. But you know what? There's no discovery, invention or good that any man has ever done that compares to what our Lord Jesus Christ did on the cross for humanity more than 2000 years ago! While all the good things men have done have improved our physical lives, what Jesus accomplished on the cross did not just affect mankind physically it forever changed the spiritual and eternal destiny of humanity! On a Friday many years ago He traded His Crown for a crown of thorns, He picked up His cross and stumbled down the road of suffering bruised and beaten for humanity, He walked the way of grief, for even though He knew it was to come from the very start, His Love for all the world beat inside His heart.
The reason we don't only have a good life today but also the assurance of a better one when we pass on from this life is because over 2000 years ago something Good happened on a Friday!
Today we celebrate Calvary bcos CALVARY COVERS IT ALL!!!
