THE QUESTION; AM I TRULY A CHRISTIAN?

in #steemchurch7 years ago

The questions are often asked "Who is a Christian? How do I know a Christian if I meet one? Does every Matthew, Mark, Luke and John go for a Christian? ls everyone who raises up his hand in response to a preacher's call to repentance a Christian? Does everybody who passes through the church isle to the altar go for a Christian? Are all those in church pews during church services Christians? Who is a Christian? Finally you may ask "Am I a Christian?"

A soul winner on evangelism met a drunk staggering down a lane. In his attempt to help him discover the true purpose of living, he asked "Are you a Christian?" The answer came quick and sharp "What do you think l am? A pagan?" This is the pitiful point.

A brilliant preacher full of energy and zeal got the pass mark of his congregation. But his life at home showed a pattern of pride and jealousy found in the fallen angel, Lucifer.

A gifted and talented lady-soloist sings like an angel and prays like a prophetess but she talks and acts with thunder and volcano in her voice. Her red-hot temper, contentiousness and confusion are marks of her presence at home or at work. Are these Christians? A Niagara of stormy words is an indication of the absence of Christ from the heart.

What it actually takes

Being a Christian is not a new label; it is a newlife. The word "Christian" first occurred in the New Testament. it was not in the Old Testament. "The disciples were called Christians first in Antioch" (Acts 11:26). From this first use of the word, the true meaning and significance of the word become clear. Discipleswere called Christians. "Disciple" is a prominent word in the New Testament. lt did not have any place in the Jewish religion. One of the disciples in Antioch referred to as a Christian was "in the Jews' religion" (Galatians 1:13) before he became a Christian. He had been living by the Mosaic code of ordinance, "touch not, taste not, handle not," the ceremonial washing in holy water and ignorance of true discipleship and Christianity. Christianity centres on Jesus Christ His love, His life and His light. A Christian, therefore, is the person who lives the life of Christ as revealed in the New Testament.

The New Testament opens with Jesus Christ Who saves from sin (Matthew 1:21) and closes with Jesus Christ, the King Who will come quickly (Revelations 22:20). Christ died to make you a Christian. He did not have to die to make you a church-goer; you can do that on your own. But you cannot overcome sin in your human nature. Christ died to suffer for you: Through Christ's merit, if you confess your sins and ask for pardon and grace you will be forgiven. Peace and joy will come into your heart. You will never be the same again. Christ died to make you live: Through definite faith in His precious blood, your heart and life are changed. Christ died to reconcile you to God: Through his meritorious sacrifice, a love relationship is established between you and God. Christ died to give you a heart, life and love like H/s: You can only enjoy a new heart at the expense of another.

WHAT THE TRUE CHRISTIAN BENEFITS

The Christian's life radiates the beauty of Christ and His lifestyle humility, obedience, love, integrity, and newness of life. Check up to see if you are a Christian, if not, why not? "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap " (Galatians 6:7). Remember that "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven " (Matthew 1:21 ).

Ask for pardon from God in the name of Jesus. There is only one Mediator between God and man, and He is the Man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5). Believe God for His mercy. Changed and transformed, you can begin to live a Christian life. How?

  1. Pray everyday, especially before you go out in the morning and before you sleep in the evening.

  2. Read the Bible everyday especially in the morning before you begin the day and, before you sleep in the evening.

  3. Fellowship with Bible-believing Christians.

  4. Be conscious of the presence of Jesus EVERYTIME. Therefore, do not do whatever will displease Him.

Jesus said not everyone saying "Lord, lord" would enter into his kingdom, but only those that are truthful to what they do.

A Christian is Christ-like, followers of God's word, a Christian is a person living to please God, a Christian is a person winning soul fro christ.

Jesus told His disciples: “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35

In other words: if we show love by our actions the world will notice, they may even stand and applaud.

Now, this “loving one another” was not just some passing comment by Jesus. It became the royal law of the Kingdom. James 2:8 tells us “If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself,’ you are doing right.”

In fact, love was to become such a crucial part of who we are as Christians that Galatians 5 tells us it is THE MARK of the Spirit bearing fruit in our lives.

We need to keep asking ourselves everyday if really we are true Christian.
Our lifestyle is one of the ways to really tell people that we are Christian.

We need to humble ourselves in fellowship with God and others.
The word of God should take first place in our lives while we keep good relationship with God in deed añd prayers.

Being a Christian requires more than we even know, that was why the demon asked when tired to be cast out in the bible it said Jesus I know, Paul I know but who are you? In that being a Christian means being washed in the blood of the lamb, being sanctified and saved by grace.
For you to be a Christian, you need to ask for God's forgiveness on your life, you need to accept God, and be Willing to allow him Into your life

A true Christian will look, in faith, to God, realizing his total dependence on the Creator. He or she will demonstrate the fruits of God’s Holy Spirit and true Christianity through good works. It is a fantastic privilege to be a Christian in this age, but one that requires dedication and carries heavy responsibility. The rewards are enormous for all those who choose to serve God and become true followers of Christ—Christians as defined in the Bible.

The one chief temptation that meets the soul at this juncture is the same that assaults it all along the pathway, at every step of its progress; namely, the question as to feelings. We cannot believe we are consecrated until we feel that we are: and because we do not feel that God has taken us in hand, we cannot believe that He has. As usual, we put feelings first, and faith second, and the fact last of all. No, God's invariable rule in everything is, fact first, faith second, and feeling last of all; and it is striving against the inevitable when we seek to change this order.

With the boundless of transgression, it genuinely makes one wonder. Christians should live praiseworthy life for others to take after however lamentably, a few Christians are on the wrong way themselves.

The more we realize the better for us.
He deserves more than we can ever imagine.

Christianity is more of a lifestyle. Being a true Christian means possessing all the fruits of the Spirit which is love, kindness, longsuffering, etc

Great post. Indeed many people do ask themself this question. Let me aak you also, are you a christain? Do you hear from God? Is your life an example of christ? How many soul have you won for christ? What position are you in church? Do you preach the word of God? Do you pray? All these question if you can answer them then you are a christain.
Thanks for this detailed post.
Thanks for sharing.

With the wide spread of sin, it truly begs the question. Christians are supposed to live exemplary life for others to follow but unfortunately, some Christians are on the wrong path themselves.

Being a Christian is not about keeping rules and regulations, performing rituals, or even going to church. It's about a friendship - a friendship with Jesus Christ. Jesus said that knowing him is the doorway to a special relationship with God

wow great post thanks for sharing with us all ialways follow you for more good blog.

Interesting introduction. A Christian is a follower of Christ. The term Christian is translated literally as "Being Christ-like". It is not a title that is beared as a position but rather one that comes with responsibilities. Thanks for sharing.

Intriguing article however I don't believe that this post really has a place in Steemstem.

STEM is Science Technology Engineering and Math.

Anticipating any subjects you might need to expound on that later on.

Intriguing presentation. A Christian is a supporter of Christ. The term Christian is deciphered truly as . It's anything but a title that is beared as a position but instead one that accompanies obligations. Much obliged for sharing.

Jesus separated the world into two gatherings the individuals who tail him and the individuals who don't. Be that as it may, what happens when somebody supposes he or she is a Christian, yet isn't With his clever, drawing in style, Mike McKinley takes perusers on an excursion of being a Christian. He states that manipulative evangelism systems and a poor comprehension of the gospel have brought about a plenitude of maintaining Christians who have no clue following Christ.
