But we see Jesus who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crown with glory and honour, that He, by the grace of God might taste death for everyone (Hebrews 2: 9)
Do you know that the death of Jesus was your death and my death? He took our place in death, He tasted that death for us. So that
- We will share His life
- the power of death, held by Satan might be rendered powerless.
How possible? You may ask. Christ was made flesh and blood like us, so that that fallen angel, called Lucifer who became Satan, and who plunged the whole human race into sin and transgression against God, with its concomitant effect of death, might lose his power over all humanity. And this Jesus accomplished through His death and resurrection. Jesus is the first man ever to die own his own accord, and came back to life again own his accord and live forever. And not only that, but promised and guaranteed resurrection to all who belongs to Him. So we may die, but we will life again forever, because our Lord and Saviour lives. He declared to Martha, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in Me, though he or she may die, they shall live again. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die (John 11: 25 -26). Apostle Paul emphasized this fact, when he said, Jesus has brought immortality into light. And that is what Easter reminds us of, Christ the Immortal, has pave the way for our immortality in Him. He has tasted death for us and released us from death, from the fear of death and from whatever goes on beyond the grave. Amen.
My question to you is: Have you considered this as you go through this season? In whom and for whom have you chosen to live your earthly life? In Adam (as adamic descendant or an old creation) which leads to sin and death or in Christ (as Christ disciple or a new creation) which leads to righteousness and eternal life?
Know that Easter present you and I with a choice, mortality and immortality, and your response and my response are crucial. One leads to life forevermore and the other leads to death. I counsel you to chose life by choosing Jesus, who died your death on the cross.
May you from today begin to experience His resurrection power that transform mortality into immortality in your life, and may the power of the risen Christ render sin, death and Satan powerless in your life in Jesus name. Amen
