It is often said that conscience is an open wound , and it is only truth that can heal it. God designed the conscience to be the umpire within us. It is our sense of right or wrong. Our conscience is that inner siren that blares whenever we're facing situations of life, telling us to do the right thing when we are thinking wrong.
As long as we keep it alive by letting it do its job and responding accordingly, we will be able to walk acceptably before God.
Conscience can be seen as a gift of God that provides
human beings with the capacity for accurate self-
examination, particularly when used in the light of God’s
truth as illustrated by I Corinthians 4:4 . We should
realize that it is not a dictator of our beliefs, but a
response that reflects our current values.
As seen in the bible, Paul was a principled man guided by a strong
conscience. His entire life displays a devotion to doing
what he thought was in accordance with God’s will, his
conduct reflecting that sincerity. His actions as a Pharisee
were governed by many of the same biblical principles
extant after his conversion. In a sense, he became a
Christian because God persuaded his conscience that it
was the right thing for him to do. In other words, when
God converted him, He did not change Paul’s conscience
but his perception of what was right—of what God’s will
actually was.
<we should also remember to always pray to God, to give us a clean heart>
For practical reasons i would love to remind you all that healing and ultimate peace of heart may depend on our sincerity based on humility in confronting them.
