"Blessed are those who mourn" arises from "Blessed are the poor in spirit." Why are you crying? They cry because they are "poor in spirit." This happens with the rest of the Beatitudes. Well, the first step, the foundation of everything else, is to be "poor in spirit." Without it there is no access to the kingdom of heaven.
