A person who is humble in spirit does not feel worthy of the grace received or the favors of the Lord, he feels indebted to what God does in his life!
The character of the believer is molded and all pride and arrogance disappears because he knows that God abhors this.
Pro 16: 5 Abomination is to Jehovah all haughty in heart;
It certainly will not go unpunished.
