1- WARS, VIOLENCE AND ANARCHY
Be alert to large and small wars, ethnic wars, wars of every kind; and to the intensification of violence and anarchy on the world stage.
Many think that things will improve. Many leaders speak of "a new world order" as if a new era of peace were about to begin. The period that has happened to the "cold war" is extremely unstable and dangerous. One of the most prestigious magazines in the world says that ours is a "strange and uncertain time; a time when the lions will not graze together with the lambs but the wars will continue ". What the "new world order" is producing is a faltering peace and an unstable environment, where instead of improving, things tend to get worse.
2 - DROUGHT AND HUNGER
Drought and hunger, lack of rain and lack of food. These things will come on earth on a large scale; in proportions that had never been seen. Yes, things are going to get worse.
When there are droughts there are also brush fires and forest fires, and when the fire has consumed the vegetation and the rains return, there is a danger of flooding because there is nothing on the earth that holds the water. Drought, hunger, fires and floods are things that tend to be linked together. In Matthew 24: 7 Jesus predicted, "And there will be ... famines." Hunger in large sectors of the world will generate competition and struggle among countries to obtain food. The political and military danger will increase especially for the United States and the countries of the British Commonwealth of Nations, whose lands have been the breadbasket of the world in recent decades.
3 -EARTHQUAKES AND OTHER NATURAL DISASTERS
God predicts in his word that earthquakes and other natural catastrophes will increase. Jesus Christ warned that before his return there would be "earthquakes in different places" (Mark 13: 8, Matthew 24: 7). The public knows very well that in recent years the frequency of earthquakes has increased, sometimes in the most unexpected places. This tendency will continue because that is what the Bible indicates. Jesus predicted it, and it is therefore, what we should expect. We must watch and be aware of the number and magnitude of earthquakes, because they will increase and will be increasingly devastating.
4 - DISEASES AND EPIDEMICS
There is a series of contagious diseases that are already a cause of concern for the governments of the world. AIDS, of course, is the most mentioned. However, we see a resurgence of ancient scourges of humanity such as malaria and tuberculosis, which are now resistant to penicillin and antibiotics that were previously used to fight them. Meanwhile, other types of ailments such as cancer and heart disease continue to afflict millions of people, while the waste of the technological age increasingly pollutes the water and food we consume.
The Bible points out that some of the future epidemics will be spread by wild animals (Revelation 6: 8). Several of the worst plagues in history, such as the bubonic plague, were disseminated by animals. Bubonic plague is endemic among wild animals in certain regions, so modern sanitary measures are the only reason why some of these problems remain outside civilization.
5 - THE EMERGENCE OF AN AGGRESSIVE AND FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC POWER
The Bible predicts that in the time of the end a charismatic character will emerge in North Africa or the Middle East who will be able to unify and lead a powerful block of nations among which Egypt will play a fundamental role.
"But eventually the king of the south will contend with him [with a king who will have his power in the northern region]; and the king of the north will rise against him like a storm, with chariots and horsemen, and many ships; and it will enter through the lands, and it will flood, and it will pass away ... it will extend its hand against the lands, and the country of Egypt will not escape. And he will take possession of the treasures of gold and silver, and of all the precious things of Egypt; and those of Libya and Ethiopia will follow him "(Daniel 11:40, 42-43).
This is a good example of the reason why it is necessary to watch knowing the news in the newspapers. Attention to the news will be very interesting if you understand biblical prophecy. You will begin to understand why Middle Eastern countries buy large quantities of weapons from the countries that produce them, such as North Korea, China, Russia, Eastern Europe and the United States.
6 - A POWERFUL AND CHARISMATIC CHARACTER WILL RAISE A RELIGIOUS AWAKENING
One of the main "signs of the time of the end" will be the appearance on the world stage of a great religious leader, whom the Bible calls "the false prophet" (Revelation 19: 19-21). This religious leader will be endowed with great charisma and exert enormous influence on the "beast" (Revelation 13, 17, 19) the gigantic political power that is about to emerge in Europe. The false prophet will be that religious figure who, according to the prophecy, would emerge at the end of time as the head of a great church.
The great personal charisma of this future leader, added to the great prodigies that he will be allowed to perform, will have a determining effect on the fate of many countries in the world.
The Bible also notes that the false prophet will ride on the "beast" (the restoration of a system of government whose characteristics will be similar to the Holy Roman Empire, which, as the name implies, was a combination of church and state).
7- A GREAT RELIGIOUS LEADER
The world will see in our time the emergence of a great religious leader who will deceive not only a few hundred people, as David Koresh did, but hundreds of millions. As the prophecy indicates, many millions of people will be deceived before the return of Jesus Christ.
The apostle Paul warns us in one of his letters: "But with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our meeting with him, we urge you, brothers, not to be moved easily by your way of thinking, nor be disturbed, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as if it were ours, in the sense that the day of the Lord is near. No one cheats you in any way; for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition "(2 Thessalonians 2: 1-3).
