Many are where they are because of circumstances unknown to us, it will be wrong for us to judge them for that. The zeal to live a chaste life should be commended, irrespective of the religion one belongs to.
Like you rightly pointed out, the fact that we are the salt of the earth doesn't mean that we would have nothing exactly to do with others living on that same earth. We should learn to tolerate others.
Loving those who are intolerant of the Christian faith empowers the believer to love just as Jesus did. The Lord uniquely created each of us with our own personalities and preferences; therefore, we won’t always agree with one another.
