After some time, God put Abraham to the test and said:
-Abraham!
"Here I am" he replied.
And God ordered him:
-Take your son, the only one you have and the one you love so much, and go to the region of Moria. Once there, offer it as a holocaust in the mountain that I will indicate.
Abraham got up at dawn and saddled his donkey. He also cut wood for the holocaust and, together with two of his servants and his son Isaac, he went to the place that God had indicated. On the third day, Abraham raised his eyes and saw the place in the distance. Then he said to his servants:
- Stay here with the ass. The boy and I will go ahead to worship God, and then we will return together with you.
Abraham took the wood of the holocaust and put it on Isaac, his son; He, on the other hand, carried the fire and the knife. And the two continued walking together.
Isaac said to Abraham:
-Father! - Tell me, my son.
"Here we have fire and wood," Isaac continued; But where is the lamb for the holocaust?
"The lamb, my son, will be provided by God," Abraham replied.
And they kept walking together.
When they arrived at the place designated by God, Abraham built an altar and prepared the firewood. Then he tied his son Isaac and put him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he took the knife to sacrifice his son, but at that moment the angel of the LORD shouted to him from heaven:
-Abraham! Abraham! - Here I am answered.
-Do not put your hand on the boy, or do him any harm, "said the angel. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not even refused to give me your only son.
Abraham looked up and, in a thicket, saw a ram tangled by the horns. He then took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering, instead of his son. To this place Abraham called his name: The Lord provides. That is why to this day it is said: On a mountain the LORD provides. (Genesis 22: 1-14)
The scenes under our lens:
Abraham was more than 75 years old when God called him, to a land that had him ready, at the age of almost 100 years God gave him the promised son.
Isaac was the only son and he loved him with all his soul. Now that son whom he had waited so long, God instructs him present in a holocaust. What seems strange to him is not the fact of sacrificing his son, the strange thing of all this was that with the sacrifice of Isaac all the promises were going to be canceled: "you will be the father of a nation".
For three days they walked, in a sepulchral silence, Abraham is carrying a sorrow so painful, perhaps losing a child is the greatest pain a father can endure?
Isaac's innocent shoulders carry the wood, Abraham carries the fire and the knife, but Isaac realizes that they do not bring the lamb for the holocaust and suspects the possibility of being sacrificed, in the end he knows that all pagan families offer to their children in offerings to their gods, so they manage to quench their anger or buy their favors. Isaac asks his father, fearing the answer,
Where is the lamb for sacrifice?
The death of Isaac, would end his future plans. The death of Isaac represented in a sense the cancellation of the divine promises. They arrive at the place indicated for the sacrifice, Abraham has learned to obey without questioning God.
Between the two they build the altar, but God does not change his mind concerning the death of Isaac. The decisive moment comes, it is time to explain to Isaac that God has not provided the lamb and that he must be killed. Both cry. The image of the last embrace is contemplated from the sky. Tears run down their cheeks. It's the last minutes together.
The Moment arrived the son is lying on the splinters of firewood, the same splinters are buried in the skin and blood drains on the body of the innocent.
Close your eyes, clench your teeth, and in a hurry, so as not to back down, raise the knife trying to drop it with all your strength but then, God provides a ram apparently caught between the branches. This experience in Abraham's life shows that he discovered something more of God's character.
He called God: Jehovah -Jireh - this is not a name that God himself gave. But a name that Abraham, based on his experience, gave to God.
The term Jiréh, is derived from the Hebrew verb ra'ah which means to see. In this case it is translated as providing.
Interestingly, the Spanish word provision is made up of two Latin words meaning-to see in advance: "pro" means before and "vision" means seeing: see before or see beforehand.
- In means of the tests, God will provide.
No matter the provenance of the tests. Any test puts us in a stressful situation and can take us to the limit of our faith. It can even shake the columns of our personal beliefs.
The evidence can be caused by loss, abandonment, pain, illness, divorce, separation, economic crisis, because the home is fragmented, by unemployment, lack of love, lack of affection, the rejection, the mockery, for the betrayal, because the children left or the plans do not go as we expected, because boyfriend / girlfriend has decided to end the relationship, for the incurable disease, the pain, the death of a loved one, for a bad news or failure.
The cause does not matter. At the most critical moment of our existence, when it seems that we are about to reach the bottom, when we have tried everything, when we no longer have the strength to continue and we do not have the courage to move forward, then yes, surely then, our eyes will rise to exclaim with faith: "God will provide" and that exclamation will raise our prayers of faith to God and intervene.
Then, God will provide in his time and in his way.
- Collaboration prepares man for the moment God will provide
Although it went against his fatherly feelings, Abraham obeyed and collaborated with what God requested. We see all the preparations that Abraham made. He got up early in the morning, explained his situation tactfully to his wife, cut the wood, loaded the fire, put the knife in front of him, enlisted the boy, took two servants, made a crossing of three suns, convinced the son that he was the holocaust, he helped Isaac to stand on the altar, and he raised the knife to insert it on the fragile body of his son. Many times God is waiting for us to be willing to collaborate and we can visualize that He has already made a provision.
However, we can cling to the only solution, the only solution, to the only remedy, to our only Isaac, thinking that with it all our problems will be solved, all our plans will be realized and all our dreams will be achieved.
Our Isaac can be our plans, our dreams, our talents, our money, our car, our house.
Then, in the willingness to collaborate we could say to the Lord: "here it is" "I give you everything, it's the only thing I have because you gave it to me" -my life, my money, my career, my dreams, my plans, -here They are Lord.
When you drop the knife and when you give up, kill your dreams, your career, your aspirations, your money, when you realize that you are left with nothing, then in the apparent loss, in the apparent "nothing "... God himself will say to you as to Abraham:" do not hurt the boy ", do not damage your dreams, do not destroy your plans, do not finish with what you intend to deliver. And God will give you back more of the surrender, because it is in the total surrender where God will provide.
- Problems and needs are the spaces where God will provide.
The Lord is Jehovah Jireh at all times, not only in times of needs or problems. Let's not think that God is a God who provides only in distress and / or in times of emergency. The air we breathe, the refreshing water, the sustaining food, the clothes we wear, all come from his kind hand.
Maybe, we work to achieve it, however, God gives us health to be able to work. In Him we are, in Him we live and in Him we move.
It is important to note that God not only provides the material but everything we need. He gives us his love, gives us faith, fills us with courage and strength.
• When there seems to be no other way out, God opens the door ...
• When there seems to be no solution, God shows us his way ...
• When human resources are finished, God provides divine resources ...
The Lord is Jehovah Jireh our provider. Therefore, "Let us come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace for timely help."
God will come on the scene! And will take care of the need, the crisis, the problem and the disease. God will act in his own way and in his times. That is a guarantee. God will provide!

This is beautifully written as Christians we must know that God is a God of sustenance, and we are however his children, sometimes difficult situations happen and we wonder why they're happening it's because it's the test that God puts through in order to refine us as better Christians, just like he did to Abraham, we must always be ready to be tested by God anytime, and no matter the test, we must be steadfast and uphold till the end.
