Hear the word

in #steemchurch6 years ago

Greetings beloved of Steemchurch, it is a pleasure for me to share again with you these days have been really distressing here in Venezuela we have been praying, speaking of the word, reading of the wonders of God to fill us more and more of Faith is the only way of supporting this situation.

Seeing the sick, children and everyone in general without electricity, without water, without food going through all this is terrible. I ask you to continue united as the great family that we are praying for this beautiful country.

"Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Rm.10.17).

What would be the relationship between hearing the word and believing? We know that "faith is the certainty of the things that are expected and the conviction of the facts that are not seen" (Heb.11.1).

This biblical passage defines faith, be it good or bad, because there is a risk that someone believes in something that he expects, but he will not come, and something he does not see because he does not exist or exist.

Believe to believe, many people believe, but this does not mean that the faith of these people is good and useful. In many cases it is a dead belief, unable to save, as James taught us (2.14,26). We need, therefore, a guarantee for faith. We find this security only in the word of God. Therefore, the faith generated from this Word is genuine. The rest is superstition, presumption or supposition. As Peter said, "we will cast the nets on your word" (Lc.5.5). This is believing and doing as Jesus commanded.

If we expect something that God promised, then we can wait with certainty. This is how hearing the word feeds our faith. We can not believe in what we do not know. Knowledge comes before true faith. We can not believe in everything and in everyone. John wrote "Do not believe every spirit" (IJo.4.1).

Placing our faith in something is like filling out a check. Before that, there must be the knowledge of the sender and the balance, that is, of all that God promised and guaranteed. There are people out there waiting for material wealth without God having made such promise. (This does not prevent the person from working to grow, but this is another story).

Those who, even possessing a Bible, do not read it, are abstaining from the nourishment of their faith. It is possible that your doubts grow and begin to cause problems. It is one of the reasons why we need to attend the services and, especially, the Bible study meetings. The abandonment of the church may be the suicide of faith.

When Paul says that faith comes by hearing, he is showing that the source of faith can not be the individual himself. I need to hear, and it is not hearing anything, but the word of God. If I lend my ears to heresy, it is possible that she comes to generate an evil faith in my heart. So, I need to be selective, avoiding dirty sources.

"Do not listen to all the words that are spoken to you, so that you do not hear that your servant curses you" (Ec.7.21).

The physical senses are the doors and windows of the soul. We need to be careful with what we receive through them. That is why it is also written: "Bad conversations corrupt good morals" (ICor.15.33).

Hearing is often anticipated in some situations in relation to the other senses. The eye did not see, the hands did not touch, the nose did not feel, the mouth did not taste, but the ear already heard. This happened in the temptation of Eve. What was heard can affect the soul and change behavior, for good or for evil. This is how we receive the influences that use music as a vehicle.

In the text of Romans 10, Paul was concerned about salvation, and not with material results achieved by faith. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus, but how can we believe in the one in whom they heard nothing? And how would you hear without preaching? And how would there be preachers if they were not sent? He was gathering elements that lead us to conclude by the importance of the evangelistic ministry and of the missions that should occupy a special place in the projects and actions of the Christian churches.

Sort:

When we simply listen to something, without due attention, then we forget and, indirectly, we are saying that this does not represent something important for us. On the other hand, when we listen to something, paying attention and meditating on what was heard, we record the message in our memory. So it is also with the Word of God.
