Each one of us has something that imparted your life deeply, because of what you experience from it. It could be a situation or a person. It could be a relative, a friend, classmate, workmate, roommate, coworker, a teacher or a lecturer, your former boss or spouse. It can be any one.
It is undeniable fact that we are all in one of way or the other influenced, shaped and changed through out interaction with either people or situations.
We are not all influenced by the same things and neither are we influenced by one situation or individual. So many situations, life experiences and individuals have had a part in who we are. How deeply they have shaped us differ, but they have all contributed something.
Lately I sat and looked back on my life journey. As I was trying find out what are the things that have contributed to the individual, I have become, I realized that by nature are relational.
Apart from my relationship with God through Christ, which made me a new creature. It is a spiritual rebirth. Apart from my relationship with my parents, siblings and other family members where I grew up. These are the people who cared for me, at a tender age. Nursed and taught me all the basics. I appreciate their work and sacrifices. Apart from all my friends, colleagues, classmate and teachers. Who real real did so many good things for me, I can vividly remember. Apart from all the above people.
My marriage and parenting. My wife and my children in other words, have greatly revolutionised my life, in ways that I never expected. I can feel and see that I am, a different person now, in a good way. I thank God for them.
My family is not a perfect family, my wife is not a perfect wife and my children are not perfect kids, but when I look at all of them, I conclude their good, very good. My marriage is good, my wife is good and my kids are good too.
They have pulled the best out of me, they have challenged me to do more and to be more. They have challenged me to be more consistency. They have challenged me to keep my words.
I do not mean, in the past didn't keep my words or I lacked consistency, nope! But these two have made being consistent and keep my words even more important as a model before their eyes.
Apart from these, there so many other things I have learned, from being a husband and from being a father. I wish I could tell you about how much I have learnt to be patient, graceful, understanding, wise and self controlled. I do not know about your experience but as for me, marriage and parenting real changes lives.
Do not know how far or what else I mighty be transformed into, but so far that is my experience. And my commitment is to be the best husband to my wife and the best father to my kids.
