A journalist refrained from flying for a year because a fortune teller had predicted that he would die in a plane accident. Today, it has been observed that due to uncertainty, stress, or anxiety, they feel that such practices protect them against dangers or help them reach their goals.

Now, those determined to please God should ask themselves, 'Is Superstition Compatible with Christianity?'

The Source Of Superstition.

Mankind in general has been plagued by fears-fears of death, of the unknown, and of what is called the hereafter, to mention just a few. Satan, the rebel opposer of God,is determined to enslave people, and he has been feeding such fears with malicious lies. (John 8:44; Revelation 12:9)

One of Satan's lies has provided a base for Superstition. It is the belief that an invisible entity survives the death of a person's body and can come back to affect the living. But the Bible says : "As for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all." It further states that "there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom" after one dies (Ecclesiastes 9:5,10).

Breaking Free From Superstition.

There are countless superstitious practices, and all of them have something in common - the lack of logical explanation. Superstitions can, among other things, lead people into blaming their misfortunes on bad luck rather than accepting responsibility for their deeds.

Happily, many have broken free from superstition. Jesus said : "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (John 8:32) Clementia, a Brazilian fortune - teller for 25 years, said:" Fortune - telling was my only means of making a living. But Bible truth freed me from superstition." In reality, regular Bible study and heartfelt prayer to Jehovah God can help us develop that prevent calamity and alleviate anxiety.

The Bible asks: " What sharing does light have with darkness? Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Satan? Hence, true christians must keep away from superstition. - 2 Corinthians 6:14-16.

Even the bible speaks against superstition. We have to avoid it by any means so that we will not spoil our relationship with God.

Consulting a fortune teller isn't merely a superstition. It's specifically forbidden by the Bible.

(Deuteronomy 18:10-11 NIV) Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, {11} or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.

Fortune tellers are usually frauds but there are some who are in contact with demons and that's how they get their information. The demons can lie too. Like say your spouse is having an affair when they're not.

Tarot cards and ouija boards are examples of occult items that a Christian should not even have in their house.

Superstition is a self-contradictory word. Its believing a lie. You say that superstitious practices have something in common - the lack of logical explanation. I think everything has a logical explanation. Those practicing idolatry, divination, necromancy, sorcery, enchantment and so on all have perfectly logical explanations for their craft but they won't tell you the truth - their power comes from demons. Instead they'll tell you bullshit about "mystic energies" or "chakras" and stuff like that which doesn't seem that evil or taboo to outsiders. Its also possible they really don't know (their master keeps them in the dark) but still they would be doing Satan's work by ignorance - spreading lies.

We need to be careful not to dismiss the supernatural with the superstitious. That is part of Satan's agenda to remove us from the bible. Bringing back dead people to life an atheist will treat like any other superstition. To Christians it is an uncompromising truth. There is much supernatural in the bible and in the world that our modern scientific spirit doesn't want to understand but Christians don't worship the spirit of science - we worship Jesus Christ.

For superstition not to have grip over our life and our walk with God,we need to fill our mind with the truth from the word of God.

Christ has redeemed us and we don't have to reason the way the world reason or believe what they believe.
