What do you do when you are afraid? ... Maybe you ask for help from dad or mom. But there is someone else who can help you. He is much stronger than anyone. Do you know who it is? ... Yes, it's Jehovah. You can always ask him to help you. That's what David did. Because he trusted Jehovah, he was a very brave young man. His story is in the Bible.
Since David was very little, his parents taught him to love Jehovah. That's why I was not afraid. And that happened things that would scare anyone. He knew that Jehovah was his friend and could help him. Once, when David was taking care of his sheep, a lion came and took one! Do you know what David did? He pursued the lion and, apparently, killed him with his own hands. And when a bear attacked the sheep, David also killed him. Who helped David to be so brave? ... You're right, it was Jehovah.
Let's see another time when David was also very brave. It was when the Israelites were fighting against the nation of the Philistines. One of the Philistine soldiers was called Goliath and he was a very, very tall man, a true giant! Goliath mocked the Israelite soldiers and also Jehovah. He told the soldiers: "Let's see who dares to fight with me!" But everyone was afraid of him and nobody wanted to fight him. When David heard what Goliath had said, he said: "I will fight with you! Jehovah will help me and I will overcome you! " Is not it true that David was very brave? ... Yes, he was very brave. And what happened next?
David took five smooth stones and a sling, and went out to fight the giant. When Goliath saw that David was just a young man, he mocked him. Then David said to him, "You come to me with a sword, but I am going to you in the name of Jehovah!" Then David ran towards the giant. Then he put a stone in the sling and threw it at him. The stone hit him right in the forehead, and Goliath fell to the ground, dead! When the Philistines saw what had happened, they were so frightened that they ran away. A young man like David could beat a giant like Goliath! Why do you think he could defeat him? ... Because Jehovah helped him, and he is much stronger than any giant!
Yes strength is given by God. It all depends how much WE believe! The more faith we have, the stronger God is. The stronger God is, the stronger we are!
