VALIDATION VERSUS PERMISSION

Romans 8:28...'And we know that to them that love God, all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose'.

A few years ago, 2015 to be precise, there was something I really wanted to do and was very passionate about. So, I found out that someone was already doing the same thing, but on a global scale.

Later on, I got in touch and sent an email to the organization introducing myself and asking if we could have an African version of what they were doing. I was willing to get the ball rolling and made sure it worked.

I sent the email and anxiously waited for a response. It's been 3 years now, they didn't respond and I didn't push ahead with it.

Fast forward 2018, I thought of the same project and knew exactly what I needed to do. This time, I didn't have to reach out to the previous organization - I simply gave myself "permission" to do it.

How many times have you lost the zeal to do something, start a project, register that business, all because you didn't get "permission" from someone else? They didn't return your call, didn't respond to your mail, didn't agree to meet up for coffee, didn't have time to review your proposal, etc.
So, we simply give up on ourselves and our dreams because someone else didn't say "yes, you're good enough and you may proceed."

There's a difference between getting validation and seeking permission.

Awards, commendations, Fellowships, and all the other great opportunities that comes our way simply "validate" who we already are. We first of all gave ourselves "permission" to be who we are, before we could even get those opportunities in the first place.

The opportunities I've been so graciously blessed only validate who I am and who I'm growing to be. The permission to be that person came from me, in the place of quietness and in the place of preparation.

You may not be able to do all you want to do today, but the first step is to give yourself permission.

Validation is a life-long journey, and they'll come at their own season and time.

Validation is indeed a byproduct of permission.

Thank you.

This line is thought-provoking!

I think the message of this piece is in sync with this:
