The duty of man
According to Myles Munroe “when purpose is not known, the abuse is inevitable”. The plain truth is that many people do not have the faintest idea of why they are here on earth. They neither know where they came from nor where they are going.
Worse still is that they hardly care to find out. All they are after is the pleasure of the moment and satisfaction of the present. A lot of them are found with the motto “life is for the living; so let us drink and be merry, for tomorrow we will die.
Solomon, the richest and wisest king in the Bible times treaded the path of self gratification. There was nothing he wanted that he could not afford to get; he was daily feasting and merrying. Eventually, he discovered almost too late that all is vanity upon vanity and emptiness.
After he found the purpose of existence, he rose up from his debauchery and declared “Let us hear the conclusion on the whole matter; fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.
Friend that is just the basic fact; nothing more, nothing less. The whole duty of a man is to fear God and keep his commandments. Do you want to enjoy today and put your future on hold? How do you live your life on a daily basis? Do you live for yourself or your creator?
The Bibles says in Ecclesiastes 12:1, Remember now your creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say, I have no pleasure in them. Beloved, you are instructed to remember God in your youthful age and live to please Him.
I tell you that the difficult of evil days being referred to in the above scriptures are the days of the old age, what takes you away from God now will have no meaning to you any longer. The quest for material possessions and looking good at all times will become history.
I encourage you to strive for excellence in things that have eternal value and you will never regret you did. The whole duty of a man is to fear God and keep his Commandments. Do you fear and obey God? You are created to praise, honour and bring glory to His holy name. SHALOM. Happy new week.
The first duty of a man is to love God with all his heart, all his soul, and all his mind. And his neighbor as himself.
(Luke 10:25-27 NIV) On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" {26} "What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?" {27} He answered: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind' ; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
