One of the purposes of this passage is to highlight the love and grace of the Lord, which are here clearly appreciated on the background of human ingratitude. His glory is revealed by being willing to once again pour out his divine favor upon a voluble and ungrateful crowd that he knew perfectly. Similarly prove to us that He is the only provider.
