Giving is not complete without receiving. When giving the recipient has to receive and accept the gift.
Psalms 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
In a palace we have the gate and the court. The king only resides in the court and not just anyone enters into the gate let alone the court.
The house of God is like a palace, our entry into his gate is with our thanksgiving. This is why you don't come into God's presence without a thankful heart because you wouldn't even enter the gate.
Once inside the gate doesn't guarantee entry into the court. So what is our entry into his court? Psalm 100:4 tells us the answer. Our praises is our entry into God's court. The court is where you have a one on one conversation with the King. Many Christians make it into the gate but not the court. The Bible says God inhabits the praises of his people. Which is why we have to come into God's presence with thanksgiving and praises.
So which leads me to the question
Is praise a function of song?
Matthew 15:32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. 15:33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude? 15:34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. 15:35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. 15:36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
We saw that Jesus gave thanks and there was abundance. Which means thanksgiving multiply things, thanksgiving is a Spirit. Anything that is not heart felt will not be received by God.
As believers we should always thank and praise God every day of our life. Thanksgiving sustains.
Colossians 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
Thanksgiving opens the eyes. So have you thanked God this morning?
