CONSERVING THE FRUITS OF EVANGELISM 1

It is not uncommon for believers to be challenged to the great need to evangelize their community, neighbourhoods, which is often followed with prayers of dedication to observe this spiritual injunction. Consequently, God honours his words seeing that we have possessed a Christ like mind in seeking the lost. Such experiences make us return with unspeakable joy like the disciples after a net breaking harvest. Jesus declared to His disciples the necessity of retaining and maturing the fruits of our outreaches “that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain” (John 15:16).

It is not enough for anyone to witness and win souls, but our utmost desire should be in conserving and establishing them. Conservation of converts involves protecting them from harm and destruction. There is no use bringing a sinner into kingdom of God and becoming indifferent and unconcerned about their establishment, as this act will amount to great waste.

The ministry of evangelism and conservation of converts are like inseparable twins. Conserving fruits from evangelism is more tasking, as the evangelist level of grace and endurance will be tested and tried thereby producing greater reward.
This process provides the opportunity to teach them things they would ordinarily not have been able to bear before and at their conversion. In the world of today, when parents and well wishers rejoice on such occasion.

It is however saddening when the same parents who had taken pains of bringing forth the child and spending a lot of money, pay little or no attention to raising and preserving their children against corrupt influences. Such children end up becoming thorns in the flesh of their parents and the society at large.

Spiritual parents must not limit their planning to only bringing forth children, but giving more time to nurse them to the point of maturity.

I believe in everyday evangelism.
