Faith is not only believing that what God has said is true, but it is relying on God to bring to pass that which he has said instead of taking it upon ourselves to bring it to pass. An example of this can be seen in Jesus' encounter with the centurion in Matthew 8:5-10. Contrast that with Abraham trying to bring the promise of a son to pass by listening to his wife.
