RE: Steemcleaner Report for March 10, 2017

in #steemcleaners8 years ago

In response to the 'whale flagging' thing, I'll use this moment on trending to discuss some thoughts.

@steemcleaners is almost dead due to funding being almost completely gone, and realistically because curie and steemguild votes for anyone EXCEPT us, we've been extremely starved for shares of the reward pool. We report every day, citing over 8 hours of work (a huge amount by @fubar-bdhr, who spends a TON of time on it -- essentially a full time job. If anyone deserves credit for the site's content not being crap, it's this guy) finding and stamping out plagiarism. I cannot fathom how bad the plagiarism would be without @steemcleaners.

And considering that these past few weeks, with the price of steem so low that I've been debating turning off cheetah (api being too expensive).. a break would be nice. I spent my whole weekend actually improving cheetah's logic to reduce the amount of API calls it requires (logic to compute probabilities on posts), simply because of how expensive it's getting relative to income.

The funny paradox is that because we're doing so well, no one notices.
It's like the technicians working day and night on the power grid. We only remember them when the lights go off.

We do a huge amount of work. You know the 'asshole' account being completely countered by @seraph? Guess what? That's us, that is @steemcleaners.

Keep in mind that we have zero donations, and all income is generated by these reports, and further, all income is distributed to steemcleaners contributors (both members and non-members fairly).

@fubar-bdhr and Steemcleaners are truly the unsung heroes of Steemit. I noted earlier that I was glad to see Steemcleaners at the top of Trending. Please keep it that way. If there's one initiative we can make this exception for, it has to be Steemcleaners.

Please keep @cheetah alive. For obvious reasons Curie can't vote for Steemcleaners' posts, but perhaps initiatives like Curie should pay/donate to Steemcleaners' services. (Just thinking out loud, no idea how that can play out) @fubar-bdhr has for a long time been a top curator at Curie as well, obviously the work goes hand in hand.

A downvote was applied to partially counter earlier whale votes as an experiment to reduce whale domination of voting influence. Not intended to express an opinion on the content nor result in a net reduction of rewards or reputation (automated notice)

Yo! I just want to say that I appreciate Steemcleaners. Thank you for your work.
