If there is something we, at Frugal Fire, love to discover and support are all sorts of DIY projects. Why? These projects allow us to be creative and have fun experimenting. Not to mention that they always allow us to save some money – as most of the times what we need we already own and are way healthier for us. So today we decided to share with you some great DIY beauty recipes that we are sure you’ll love to try. Oh, maybe if you like our ideas enough we can turn this into a series. The more DYI ideas, the merrier, right? Let’s go.
Bath salt
Bath salts are a great way to add a little extra to your pampering session after a long and stressful day. Using bath salt at least once a week will help detox your skin and also exfoliate it. However, the majority of bath salts on the market are filled with preservatives and are also pretty expensive. So let’s try to make this relaxing bath ingredient at home, shall we?
You will need:
150 g Sea salt
10 ml Sweet Almond Oil
20 drops Lavander Essential Oil
5 drops Lemon Essential Oil
Mix all these ingredients and store them into a glass container and you’re done.
Lotion for sweaty feet
Sweating is a natural and very healthy process for our body, and nobody should feel ashamed of that. However, if the smell is going up, up in the sky and even the Gods are having difficulties breathing, then we need to make some adjustments.
You will need:
50 g Shea Butter
150 ml Olive Oil
5 drops Orange Essential Oil
15 drops Lavender Essential Oil
20 drops Citronella Essential Oil
Keep this mixture in a dry place and out of direct sunlight as it will last longer without damaging the properties of the essential oils. Goodbye you horrible feet odor, you will not be missed!
Shaving cream
Shaving products are another essential for both women and men everywhere, but again they are expensive and sometimes a bit too harsh with the skin. This recipe is fantastic as it involves the star of the DIY recipes (you know who that is) and it is also very moisturizing to the skin.
You will need:
50 g Shea butter
50 g Coconut Oil
10 drops Almond oil
5 to 10 drops fragrance oil (optional)
To create this cream, you have to put the shea butter and the coconut oil into a bowl and microwave it for 2-3 minutes or until the composition is watery in consistency. Add the almond oil and the fragrance oil and stir well. Let the composition cool into the refrigerator until it is in solid form again. To soften the mixture and make it a creamy consistency put it into the mixing bowl and whisk it until it is creamy. Transfer the cream into a glass container, and that is it. Enjoy your moisturizing shaving cream.
Well, these were our 3 favorite DIY beauty recipes for today, but we have plenty to share with you in the future so we would love to have you here again. If you have exciting recipes that you would like to share, please don’t be shy. We are here to grow and learn something new every day.
Until next time ‘take care!’
