Even though I booked my flights to Krakow as soon as Steemfest was announced, I have only just today bought my ticket and booked my accommodation. Finally it feels real, well because it now finally is real. Woohoo!
So Steemfest3 Here I come!!
Air BnB Heaven
I think I first used Air BnB about 2 years ago, and since then I haven't looked back. For me renting somebody's apartment for a few nights beats staying in a hotel by a long way.
For one it is much cheaper than staying in a hotel. You get to cook your own meals and have them at whatever time you please. Plus it feels much nicer to hang around an apartment than a hotel room.
Lastly but definitely not least, you feel much more part of a place when you're staying in a house. Sure you're still a tourist, but there's something about not being in a hotel that just feels like you're connecting more with the city.
Cost Effective
So I have just paid €163 for a five night stay in a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment in the Kazimierz district of Krakow. This is great because I'm situated near thetwo Steemfest hotels, and I paid just over one third of the price for the privilege!
To give you an example the more expensive of the two hotels suggested on the Steemfest website is €90 (€450 for 5 nights) per night for a double room. Even the cheaper design hotel is €65 per night (€325 for 5 nights).
Air BnB Offer
So as you can see if you're on a budget, then Air BnB is the place to get really amazing deals in Krakow. In fact I could have gone even cheaper €130 for a week. However I decided I wanted to be closer to where the main action is going to be!
So if you want to come to Steemfest, and you want to use Air BnB, then I have a small offer to make your stay even cheaper!
Air BnB have given me a promo link to share amongst friends. If you click the link at the bottom of this article, I will get £15 off my next booking, and much, much more importantly you will get £25 off (circa €28) off your booking!
Usually such a small offer is hardly noticed when booking accommodation abroad. However with such low prices in the first place. You can transform a €130 booking to €102 for 5 nights!!
Come On Down!
I'm sure you'll agree that at those prices you can hardly afford NOT to come to Steemfest!
Remember today is the last day you can get your Plankton tickets, so get yourself over to steemfest.com and BOOK NOW!
Meet 'n' Greet
I will be speaking at Steemfest and I can't wait to meet all of you. It feels like this has been a long road to Steemfest for me, starting 2 years ago when I said I'd be going. I didn't make it then, or last year and so I am absolutely chuffed to bits!
See you there peeps!

yo yo, I'm thinking of trying to make it out. You using that 2nd bedroom or could someone rent that from you ?
I have somebody on standby, they will let me know in the next week or two. If not I'll let you know.

When I looked for a hotel, I found a hostel were it was 11€ the night.
Wow, that's really cheap! Less than half what I'm paying, nice one.
I like my privacy though so I'm prepared to pay that bit more. However this is an option I would definitely choose if funds were even tighter.

Cool, I'll definitely check them out next time. Though I just went to their site and they do not have any members in Krakow.

Then the next would be to search couchsurfing and hospitality club. Probably I'd choose Airbnb before a regular hotel, but keep in mind that a lot of money is going to a company doing quite little except having the de-facto market monopoly on hospitality exchange
That's really not on my mind when trying to sort out a service that benefits me. With Air bnb they take a commission, however the homeowners are very happy as they are making more than they would in rent.
My motto is, keep giving me a great service, and I'll keep giving you my money! 👍😁😍

AirBNB is still not that scary compared to Facebook and Google - but I guess it's just a matter of time before it's bought up by one of them.
I see various conspiracy theories lifted up here from time to time, everything that is bad in the world is due to some Illuminati group which purpose is to keep the "ordinary plebs" down.
The truth is much more simple than that, for most people it's just much easier to pay taxes and royalties without complaining, to stick to the services that have the biggest network effects, to send votes and write nice comments to the Steemwhales, to use Microsoft Windows, to never question all the weird stuff the boss is deciding, etc ... hence those in power will always become more powerful. (or almost always).
I'm terribly concerned that we're moving very much in the wrong direction now, particularly with Facebook and Google getting far too much power.
I used to live in Aurora, Colorado where AirBnB’s headquarters are. Everyone I met who worked there loved their job and said it was a good company to work for. How often do you hear that?

Yeah I can believe it. I once met a regional manager and she loved it too. She told me about all the fun stuff they did in the office and it sounded like a great company to work for.
There are alternatives springing up, but they seem to have it all going on!

Oh man, I am really jealous now LOL!!! I will have to get to in soon, sounds like it will be a blast. I cant wait to see who all you interact with there!!!
It certainly is! I regretted not going the first two years, so this time I just thought just do it! Especially as last year the rumour was it was going to be in S.E. Asia this year, which I definitely wouldn't have been able to afford!

Hi @cryptogee, It means you are enjoying live. You, too, should be done by doing different places and doing a small life which we have found, it is your post.
In every post I have seen people talking about travel / hotels. I was wondering, wouldn't there be any thing needed to get the VISA ?
Fortunately for now the UK is still in the European Union so I personally don't need a visa. However check with your local embassy.

Hello my dear @cryptogee I invite you to visit my blog and if you want support me with your upvote, thanks. Saludos desde Venezuela.
@cryptogee,
I keep hearing about Air BnB but have never used it. But you've definitely got me intrigued. Christ, those numbers sound fabulous. Next time I'm traveling, I'll definitely look into it.
Regarding SteemFest ... my friend, you sound really pumped. :-)
Have fun.

You really should. I can't see myself ever using a hotel ever again. Unless I'm on a quick one night's stopover in an airport hotel maybe. The place we got in Madrid was €110 per night, the equivalent hotel suite would have cost 9 or 10 times that and we were right in the centre of town.
I am, really glad that I finally pulled my finger out and just did it 😁
