Hey everyone!
You might remember my super long list of people, which I met at Steemfest (if not, click here). Scanning the people I met was only possible because of the "Meet the Steemians Contest" by @arcange - thank you!
Now, I was super excited to participate in that contest, and yes, very eager to win. I'm to competitive to not at least try to reach the top four. And who would have thought? I made the second place!
This won me a whooping 233.30 Steem, which would be slightly more impressive, had Steem not decided to go down like the temperature.
But I didn't participate because of the money, and it felt kind of wrong to keep it. Being paid for interacting with others? Not really how I wanted to remember Steemfest. I enjoyed meeting people, I loved going out of my comfort zone to approach even those I didn't know yet. So I decided to donate the winnings to the travel reimbursement fund.
This fund is split between those who attended Steemfest, and applied to get some Steem back.
Personally, I was lucky to have my expenses funded by others (mostly by @reggaemuffin), so I didn't apply for this fund. But others probably need it, so it felt just right to send that money there.
Anyway, I hope everyone who participated had just as much fun as me, and I hope to be able to attend Steemfest 4!

Really? I could not have guessed you needed a contest for that. You were such a cool girl for the first minute we met, even before the it started (officially) ;)
Sometimes it's hard to approach strangers for no reason. I think I would have talked with less people, hadn't I had the scanning to push me a bit more :D

It has never really been about the money. Sure, it's a nice plus and will help fund my education, but interacting with people is a lot more important to me.

I didn't go to SteemFest, but I also contributed with a few STEEM or SBD (can't remember, ah, I'm getting old!) to @t-r-f to help those who applied. It was such a cool event, and they contributed to it by making an effort to be there.
I would not have seen it as much as earnings but rather as a gift that they wanted to give me, given that nobody would have hired me to participate. Although anyway everything in this life is relative and not absolute, hehehe! It's good that you've come second in the contest, not everyone can say the same. It is very nice of you to make the decision to donate the prize to that travel reimbursement fund, and thus help those who attended the Steem Fest.

Well, you can go there by car and sleep in the car also.
But a tent is way more spacious.
