Everyone knows this situation. You are outside and want to get to a higher ground level. In front of you are the stairs and the escalator. There are not many stairs. It's a pretty short staircase but even though you go to the escalator. You check you smartphone and after few seconds you are there. we never think about the other option : "Taking the stairs".
But this is about to change today once for all!
Hello Steemians and welcome to the first episode of #steemfit challenge.
This series is not about going to the gym or exercising. This is about changing our way of thinking in everyday situations which helps us get fitter and healthier. Today's challenge is climbing stairs. You think why you should participate? Here we go:
Climbing stairs hits a lot of major muscle groups. It strengths and shapes your core, quads, calves and glutes. It also strength your bones because climbing stairs is a weight bearing excise. Now to your "inner" body. Stair climbing increases your heart rate really quickly. This helps you against high blood pressure and clogged arteries. It also decrease the risk of diabetes, vascular dementia ( causes memory loss, difficulty with thinking and language problems) and many other chronic conditions, even some cancers!
We should also not forget that climbing stairs is free and everybody can do it. There are stairs everywhere in the world! Technically you can go groceries shopping and exercise at the same time now.
Here is a nice summary for you from stepjockey.com ( an app I use often)

Thank you for your comment :)
Ofc, this at any non-1st world country is a piece of cake.
For example: I do daily over 15km of bike to move around otwn, plus walking other 10km only to take the kid to school...
Stairs, meh.
Thanks for your comment renzoarg. I don't think it depends on which country you live. Those exercises are great, specially the bike riding. How ever stairs climbing will have completely different effect on you body. It is an short but intense exercise which leads to fat burn, muscle strength and many other things. It is not about go to the mall and climb stair for 20 minutes. It is about taking the stairs instead of escalators or maybe lifts whenever possible :)
