About Mehandi or Mehndi
Mehandi is a traditional Bengali custom which is followed in Bangladesh since Vedic time. Mehandi which is known as Henna in the western countries has been mentioned in Vedic ritual books.
During wedding Mehandi is the most important part of the bride make up. Married women apply Mehandi during Karwa Chauth, Gangaur, Ahoi Ashtami, Hariyali Teej, Hartalika Teej, Akha Teej, Bhai Dooj, Vat Savitri (Vat Purnima) and Gauri Puja festivals.
