Our fifth entry of the Game Jam is Shoot the Monsters by @praful and @luja. In this game, you control the machine gun at the centre of the screen and shoot at monsters coming your way.
Game Review
In this game, you control the machine gun at the centre of the screen, and your goal is to shoot as many monsters coming with you as possible. The machine gun basically will shoot wherever you click on the screen, so it is essentially an exercise of trying to click on the monsters when they appear.
Initially, the rate at which the monsters appear is pretty slow, so it is pretty easy to fend them off. But as time passes, more and more monsters start to appear in different directions, and you need to be pretty nimble to get rid of all of them. When the monster touches you, you lose health. And when your health bar reaches zero, you die.
And that is all there is to it! A very simple game play, but it is this simplicity that captivates me and makes it hard to stop. The UI is also simple, yet it feels natural and non-cluttered. The background has a simple design and colour scheme, yet it feels very elegant and pleasing. This game had pretty much nailed the art of simplicity and shows the power of simplicity at its best!

Game Dev’s interview
Now that we know more about this game, let’s get to know @praful a little bit better! We have interviewed @praful to talk about the game, game development, and how they feel about Steemgg:
Steemgg: Did you enter as a team or solo? If as a team, is this the same team you always have when you develop your games? Who’s in your team and what does each person do?
@praful: Yes we entered as a team of two. Yes we always have each other while developing games. I am a game developer and teammate(@luja) does graphics and animation
Steemgg: How did you come up with the idea for this game?
@praful: When we joined the jam there's wasn't much time left. We have to think of an idea as simple as possible to submit within 10 hours. My teammate(@luja) came with the final idea.
Steemgg: What is the most fun or memorable part for you in this game jam?
@praful: It was fun and challenging to make game in limited time. And the best feeling was when we completed the game within 10 hours and submitted in the jam.We were so happy.
Steemgg: Are you a professional game dev or hobbyist? How long have you been doing it?
@praful: I am a hobbyist but planning to be an professional. Its been 3 years.
Steemgg: What is the hardest part in being an Independent Game Dev? What is the best part? And what is your most unforgettable experience as a game dev?
@praful: The hardest part in being an independent game dev is to make games, earn and sustain through it. The best part is to solve different problems using our creativity.
Steemgg: What is your favourite video game, and what would you improve about it if you call the shots?
@praful: PUBG has been one of my favourite game. I would improve the quality of the animation and make it seem more natural and fluid. Besides this, I'd like to improve overall ui.
Steemgg: What do you think of Steemgg as a platform and how do you think it can be improved?
@praful: Steemgg is a great platform for game developer as well as gamers. It can be improved by designing a better ui. It would be great if we would be able to integrate leaderboard by using steemgg's sdk. And we need to manually create post every 7 days for the unlimited reward. Which creates bunch of same posts until there's an update. Why not create a comment if there is no any new update. Any when users upvote the game on steemg, in the steem blockchain the comment is upvoted.
Thanks @praful for sharing your experience with us! And those are some really useful advises for Steemgg that we will definitely be looking into very soon! We wish you success in becoming a professional Game dev and we hope to see more of your games on Steemgg!
