See for yourself what amazing opportunities Steemit is creating by financing projects and bringing people together. Today is a very special day for me because I am finally getting my favorite memory sports elephant mascot done to become an animated puppet like Steemy.

Marvin, the Memory-Sports Elephant

Designed by and named after Marvin Clifford in 2009, author of Shakes & Fidget, Schisslaweng, Mittenmang and many other comics.

Later designs from othor Illustrators

Years later I hired more illustrators to create a few more versions of Marvin:

The SteemGig

Today I am hiring the illustrator @kayrex from Venezuela to do the puppet for me that I will animate in Adobe Character Animator. He has done some impressive works before and didn't get enough attention on Steemit yet. So please check out his profile to check out his work.

Here is one of his speed drawing videos:

What I need is a full frontal view digital puppet drawing in Adobe Illustrator format. It needs the different faces below which I took from Steemy and are not the faces for Marvin but just a list of mouths I need. The same goes for the eyes and eyebrows. It concludes with a set of different emotions. You might recognize these images from my Steemy contest.

The arms must be devidable from the body. The hands must come with open hands and closed fists both facing forward and backwards (of course not together, but I need both variants). All fingers need to be their own layers in order to animate them.

All body parts must be labeled accordingly and all head parts must be in a group called head and all body parts must be in a group called body.

First Sketch

The first pencil sketch is more than I could hope for! @kayrex was able to catch the spirit of Marvin like no one before him except the creator himself. But see for yourself:

Just two things: The pupils in the eyes will move and bounce in all directions. That means they must be designed that they work on every position within the eyeball. And the arms must work separately from the body, so they must be fully drawn. The position right now is great for their default. They must be placed behind the belly so that it creates depth like now.

The Trunk is the Tricky Bit

The most difficult part is the trunk because it dangles in front of the mouth. That means that all mouths must be designed and work without the trunk first. Then @kayrex can add the trunk on top of it (or the other way around but deactivate the trunk layer while doing the mouths. The mouths must be visible behind the trunk, at least a little bit.

I think to make it look well it should be just the mouth changing but the wideness of the cheeks and cheekbones and maybe the angle of the tusks shifted slightly from mouth to mouth. That way the entire lower face will move when Marvin speaks. I think that will look better.

Why #Steemgigs?

Steemgigs is the new Fiverr but with fair prices and Steem/SBD payments. The money stays in the ecosystem and no further costs come into being. The value of Steem grows by using it as a currency for goods and services. And it helps to support fellow Steemians with work and exposure.

Please help to support this project with your upvotes and resteems. Marvin will be used for the new community account @memorysports on Steemit to attract the best memory athletes in the world to join our ranks and finance memory championships with the Steemit crowdfunding power. We will not discuss the price here but it is a very coomplex work and I will pay a fair price for it. Every help from you is much appreciated!

What you will support with this project:

  • @kayrex for bringing exposure to him
  • @flauwy for refinancing the gig
  • @memorysports community account by help building it up
  • #steemgigs and future gigs by bringing exposure it
  • Steem by making a transfer of services within the ecosystem

Damn! I saw the video wich you decided to financial MemorySports with Steemit, and know you're doing that. That makes me feel confidend about this plataform. Thanks!

Yes, it is absolutely amazing. I got some help from @thinkkniht but now the entire community can help as well. And even if nothing comes together with this post we will still do it and it will be awesome. :)

We are supporting this project by paying for the service of @kayrex. However, we hope that the community will show their respect for this idea by helping with it.

Have my full support and that artist's is indeed very talented and I have no clue as to why he hasn't really been discovered in Steemit.

Well my guess is that even if you have good content it is not enough. You need to do what we two are doing right now: engage in personal interactions and start to meet people. I am following you to engage even more with you. Thanks for your comment. The elephant will be sooooo cool when he is animated. You'll see. :)
