Description
I had written a massive post on the 30 witnesses that I voted for that I spent almost 2 weeks, reading on what they do, what projects they are doing, outright sending them messages in Discord which some were nice to answer but most did not even if I had very specific questions. Well it is what it is.
If you are interested to know the results of my research you can read in this post This Redfish understanding of Witnesseses and Why they are important
So @dragosroua has this interesting writing challenge and so far I have been diligent in submitting mine on a daily basis. When I saw today's challenge I was thinking of skipping it but decided to write because the post I had was almost 30 days already and would also make me think what are the truly relevant aspects of Steem do I support.

What are Witnesses?
>What are Steem witnesses?
The Steem blockchain requires a set of people to create blocks and uses a consensus mechanism called delegated proof of stake, or DPOS. The community elects 'witnesses' to act as the network's block producers and governance body. There are 20 full-time witnesses, producing a block every 63-second round. A 21st position is shared by the backup witnesses, who are scheduled proportionally to the amount of stake-weighted community approval they have. Witnesses are compensated with Steem Power for each block they create.
One of the most important aspect of witnesses is that the top 20 get to decide what mechanisms in a hardfork will they vote and approve to effect the whole Steem Blockchain. Anything from rewards sharing, dust threshold, and the like are going through them.
So being informed of what they do and what they support is enough reason to make use of your 30 witness votes. Choose witnesses that you believe in their vision and what they want to achieve and not because you often get upvoted or using your witness vote as a bargaining chip.
Choose witnesses that you resonate and have the same values as you do.
Who are my top five Witnesses?
@surpassinggoogle was the first witness that I voted for when I first came to Steemit. I didn't know who he was nor know what he does except be told that he supports the Philippine community with his huge upvotes. I was at the time still living in a scarcity mindset and was taught that is the only thing of value in Steemit, getting upvotes.
I have over the course of the months learned a lot of things and know how important witnesses are and I still have him as one of my witnesses because of all the good he does in the platform. He manually curates, help in organizing community events and meet up and being an inspiration and dream builder for Steemians.
Talking about dream building he has created this condenser that I am using to create this blog post. He believes that everyone has something to offer and works hard to be able to provide the means to do that/
@patrice is another witness that I support because of her stance against spam, plagiarism and abuse in the platform through Steem Cleaners.
Plagiarism is a sore point for content creators like me. I often work on a post for about 30 minutes to almost 3 hours. Then I would see a person that would life content from the internet and pass it off as their work. That is just wrong.
@curie, @ocd-witness and @utopian.io okay I kinda cheated on this one but they all have the fundamental aspect of finding undervalued posts and rewarding it. Utopian takes it up a notch by encouraging developers, bug hunters and open source contributors.
@sircork is now a combination of @sircork, @rhondak and @beanz and each one of them represent communities that I care about. @sircork is running the You Are Hope organization, a boots on the ground charity organization that has provided help to communities in Asia, Africa and South America where it is needed the most. @rhondak handles writers and also running an animal shelter in her local community. @beanz is all about freedom and information.
So this witness team is very important for me because they humanize the blockchain.
@steemcommunity another witness team that is by the two masters of data and analytics @abh12345 and @paulag Both see the importance of communities and how they are an important part for the future of the platform. Thus by encouraging communities and individuals in creating genuine comments and deep human connection we ensure that the users are engaged and motivated.
Pricing
I could have added one of the top 10 witness but I am kinda rooting for the smaller guys and I only have 1 MV so my witness vote does not have much merit but by continuous education and reminders to the communities I am will help spread the word.
Price: Starting at 0 STEEM
Delivery: 0 day(s) 0 hour(s)
Requirements
I always do my best to encourage people to vote for witnesses that resonate with their values. Together we can make this platform better for everyone.
Voting for witnesses is a responsibility by everyone because it is our future at stake here. Choose wisely.

I keep hearing good things about surpassinggoogle, and I'm aware of patrice through her efforts at steemcleaners. The other witnesses, curie, ocd-witness and steemcommunity I mentioned in mine, so we're on the same page there (surprise, surprise).
I had a back and forth with sircork that ended amicably. He seems like a good guy, passionate about Steemit, and very busy with everything he does on the outside. Rhondak seems like a very reasoned person the little I've seen of her posts and comments. I'd need to know more about them, though, before forming more of an opinion.
I do believe that beanz is no longer involved. Unless there was a less public meeting of the minds Sir Cork and Rhondak are it. She wrote a brief post about beanz no longer associated with the witness some time last week I believe.
Anyway, I like your list. :)
Yep, you are correct. It's just SirCork and me now. I'm thrilled for the opportunity to serve the community in this way. :-)
Thank you and @sircork both for checking in and confirming this. Very much appreciated and I wish you both well with your endeavors as witnesses and elsewhere around the STEEM ecosystem. :)
Yes, it is just @rhondak and I. Thanks for catching that.
Oh thank you Glen for correcting me on that but as I was trying to make edits, well because I tried it on Steemit, Busy and even the steemgigs condenser and found today that it is hard to edit.
Yeah both Cork and Rhonda are great people to be as witnesses because they will make sure the concerns of minnows like us gets heard.
I am very partial as well to charity works and animal protection.
Thank you for including us in this list, @maverickinvictus . I am definitely all about the good of the platform and put everything I have into this. There's a huge future for blockchain technology. I can't wait to see what develops next. :-)
Everything you and @sircork are doing to help make the world a better place is greatly appreciated. This is the true power that steemit should be used for.
I agree and that is why I always inform people of the good both of you do on the platform.
Maybe SMT is a good way to boost the writing guilds. Communities and having moderators backed by Steem Delegations which can truly highlight good content is one direction I really hope that the platform gets into.
Thanks Mav!
I just want to copy this lovely paragraph out and read it again :D
Brilliant! :D
I support all of your choices, SG via @steemgigs at present but am considering a direct support there too.
Cheers
these posts have been very informative and your name @abh12345 has come up in almost every one I have read. I have only commented on one of your posts but from what I read about you today you now have my vote as Witness for what it's worth!
Well thank you for supporting us, and to the other commentators today for mentioning myself and our witness. We are new to the the table but hope we have a good understanding of engagement and community - something which everyone can be a part of if they wish. Thank you!
you are more then welcome :D
Thanks Asher it is always a pleasure to inform people of good witnesses like you that is trying to keep the platform engaged, providing good content and making the little people like us feel that somebody will fight for us.
Engagement is dying as I have been observing in the posts of little fishes, more so now and even in big ones like Terry that would have hundreds of comments before woulf have smaller number of people now and he is one of those really generous in upvoting comments.
I really think we need to do something drastic.

Thank you for that :)
You may want to let people know that @surpassinggoogles has his witness listed as @steemgigs so that no one is confused on who to vote for. He truly is an amazing person that has the people's interest in mind. I am glad that you made that post a while back introducing me to him.
Thanks DV and nuts I tried to edit but couldn't so would have to inform the devs of Steemgigs of that.
Indeed Terry is a wonderful person and I want to help him build the dreams of people.
