Have you ever played a board or card game and thought, THIS COULD BE BETTER!? You're probably like me, sitting on the next great game idea. You knuckled down and pieced together a good prototype. Your friends love the game, and you've heard whispers of "Kickstarter" with your friends. You want to take your game to the next level.
You've got the passion to make it come together. What you now need is a neutral third party who shares your passion of tabletop gaming and has an actual university WRITING DEGREE. You need someone with a passion for games to look over and improve your work.
My published card game, The Mother Lode of Sticky Gulch. Design, illustrations, publishing, marketing, and all done by me.
Why I'm qualified.
I have over 25 years of published playtester credits notched into my belt. My playtester and rules review credits started in 1991 with the venerable “Cosmic Encounter” from Mayfair Games. Since then, I have playtested dozens of published games, including the 2016 Kickstarter mega-hit Gloomhaven and its sequel. I am a 10+ year veteran of the playtesting convention Protospiel. I've owned my own game company, and displayed a booth at Gen Con, publishing and selling my own card game, The Mother Lode of Sticky Gulch. I'm one of the few people in the games industry that has multiple game designer and game illustrator credits in the BoardGameGeek database.
What can you get from me?
I know the roadmap to navigate through the game industry, and can help guide you with your next game project. I can offer editing and rules-crafting assistance, or even bring your game to my regular playtester group. I will mentor you through every part of of the process—initial ideas, prototyping, publication, marketing, and beyond. I have connections with publishing houses, professional game illustrators, and all the inside game industry connections to make your game a success!

I’m also a professional magician and mentalist. I’m working on a Southern US summer tour for 2018. Give me a shout if you’re within one state of Indiana, Kentucky, or Tennessee! You’ll be pleasantly surprised, and maybe just a little freaked out!

Hi @yekrats, have you taken a look at the Information Finding Championships hosted by @apolymask? We are constantly looking for people that can contribute to the contest and would definitely be interested in people that can also suggest improvements to the competition and I think you'd be the perfect person for that. And there are some very good rewards for participating as well!
Wow, thanks @plushzilla! I will certainly look into that! Sounds like fun!
Hello! I found your post through @plushzilla, I was reading through and see you are in Dayton, IN, I am in Muncie,IN about 80 miles away, my son's 12 birthday is coming up and I would love to know what the cost for a small birthday party could be. His birthday is in one month, would love to maybe have you do some magic and we could also promote some steemit together!
Hi @charisma777 - Possible, depending on the date! Let's talk! You can reach me at [email protected] Twelfth birthday - what a great time! :-)
Awesome his birthday is on April 20th I am contacting a few people around here to gather hopefully a larger crowd. Who knows it is BSU maybe I can get something going...I will be emailing you very soon! Thank you for responding.
Ahhh, I'm familiar with the area. My son went to Ball St. for a bit.
You are the first person I have happened across that is local, aside from my friend @tecnosgirl who I have known since we were 12.
Does your son live around here now? There are some pretty awesome people who have come from Ball State! Hopefully, he found a nice career.
editI also wanted to tell you I am a judge in the IFC that plushzilla was telling you about and would love it if you took a look and joined in on the fun, of course only if you choose to. I got so excited about your being a magician I had to ask Lol.
This is a very cool offering! I've been thinking there need to be more offerings of exchanges for services to encourage value of the token as currency. Hope someone takes you up on it! The prospecting game looks interesting too, might try it out.
Thank you!
Judging by your user name, are you a fan of Cosmic Encounter? It is one of my all-time favorite games. The EON version has a special place in my heart! (I think you might be a fan because the "Warp" is a major location in the game Cosmic Encounter, and its first publisher is named "EON".)
I think that's a sign I should try it :) no relation!
If you're an avid board game player, I would highly recommend it. The version from Fantasy Flight Games is probably one of the few versions that's available now, and it is maybe a little better than the original.

Hi there @yekrats. I see one of our players already found you and told you about the IFC and he sent me this link of yours and.. I have to say.. As much as I'd like to have you as a regular player, I think I might want to pay for your services as well.
Doesn't seem like you're charging that much and I could definitely do around 10 SBD for a Playtest and full write-up and a Mentor session.
And then, perhaps more if we feel like there is a good reason to keep paying for more.
I think we're doing really amazing for a just starting out and that we probably don't really need much help and it will keep growing, but.. It looks like you've got a lot of experience in this area and I think it might be wise to hire you and see what you can help us with.
Even though I've been a gamer most of my life, this is the first time I've sort of created my own game. And, it's not just me anymore as the whole community has sort of come together to create this game.. So.. I think you may be likely be of valuable service to our community and I'm willing to spend some money to find out. :)
Lemme know if that sounds good to you! By the way.. I usually think magicians are pretty cool! I tend to identify with them more and more the more I learn about the world! :) Cheers.
Hi @apolymask - I'd be happy to look over what you have and help out! How would you prefer to talk over some ideas? Discord, email, video face-to-face? Whatever's good for you. We'll set up an initial consultation, and if you're satisfied with the plan going forward, you can pay me.
Hey! Thanks for the response and glad to hear you're open to working together, also sounds good in regards to the deal you are offering. I'm not too worried about it, I have a feeling your insight will be very valuable as you have been in the gaming industry for a while.
Also.. I've been on steemit for a while so 10SBD isn't really that much, and if you have more to offer after that then we might even be willing to work further with you after that and pay more further on down the line.. I have a feeling your experience and knowledge in the area will be well worth it and helpful! We'll see how it goes.
For now.. I think maybe discord would be best, so everyone in the group can see what you're saying and be able to respond and offer their own input. And if necessary later we can move to something like a phone call or what not.. But for now.. I think Discord is a good place to start! Lemme get an invite link.. One sec..

There you go. Look forward to talking more in the future!
