In this case the banner ad is one of the free ads. However we have a growing number of ads which provide rewards which are shared with both the hosts and visitors. The ads are both external to the steem environment (ebooks, web hosting, travel booking etc) and internal (people placing ads to encourage visitors to their posts).
For instance the reward on this one is 0.0033 per view and 0.0066 per click. In this case I was rewarded with 0.0033 Steem and Huy was paid the same. So far the rewards have ranged from free to 1 steem (per click). The rewards are issued once per day as steem power delegation. Due to the limitation of the delegation process, it requires a minimum of one steem before delegation can be triggered. However a number of users have reached that point in one month:
