Well, I started this journey 6 years ago. A journey which I can assure you will be full of frustration, cursing, swearing, joy, deception, fury, accomplishments. Its steep learning curve will put off the most gamers. But something magical will happen after some time. Please replace some time with some months, to be sure that we understand each other on the complexity of the game. It will shine right in front of you a true masterpiece which will keep you rooted to your gaming desk, in which you will make friends, learn coordination, team play, patience, and have a BLAST playing it, learning it. There is no end to what there is to learn in Dota. Literally. The combinations of skills, heroes, strategies are endless. Although repetitive as it only has one battleground, the infinite ways to play it makes it eerily addictive. Valve, the company that developed it, throws wonderful updates, that are being more than an incentive for even the veterans of Dota 2 to keep playing it.
The professional scene of Dota 2 has the biggest prize pools of all e-sports, with The International, being a climax of the whole year's tournaments, offers a staggering 22+ millions USD as prizes.
I can guarantee one thing if you start playing it and get past the frustration zone, which inevitably you will encounter it: you will love it, hate it, cherish it and you will form bonds with players from all over the world.
