This smart website collects data of current Bitcoin price, block reward, luck, energy consumption and few other metrics to give out info on average price of getting each coin by mining.
ĥ = global hash rate (TH/s)
ĥm = individual miner's hash rate (TH/s)
em = individual miner's energy consumption (kWh)
c = energy cost (kWh USD)
β = blocks per hour
r = block reward (btc)
This way you can see minimum price that miners need to stay profitable.

This basically shows that there is literally no way of a private person to mine profitably without big speculations. With most people not having access to industrial energy you easily can double the price per mined coin.
Many folks that came in the last year don't realize that mining is usually on a hope that it will one day profitable. Most of the time it cost more than it was actually worth at the time of mining. ;)
