Hunter's comment

If you want to get rid of annoying Youtube ads during the streaming of videos without paying a penny then this open source project for android called NewPipe can be the best solution for you.

NewPipe

NewPipe is a popular open source player that lets you watch YouTube videos without ads and there are other awesome features on the app. You can even use this app to download videos and audios. This player has 1080p/2k/4k support as well. You can use this app to stream videos without ads, search youtube in specific language, watch/block restrictated materials etc. This player seems to be a great open source project to me with a lot of great features.

If you like the app please let me know in the comments below.

HI @sarcastic.sperm,

Thanks for your hunt. Sadly enough I can not approve it as we do not accept apps which are not listed in the main App Store. Additionally this app may infringe on the use license of YouTube embeds and as such we can not approve it.

As per Steemhunt posting guidelines:

3. Product Link

We only accept these four product links:

  • Official product website
  • Major app store link (AppStore, PlayStore, etc)
  • Crowdfunding sites (Kickstarter, Indiegogo, etc)
  • Github, Bitbucket repositories for open source projects

Can I still provide the github product link?

It being open source doesn’t change the nature of the product nor does it suddenly make it an app hosted in the official play store.

As such that will not result in the hunt being approved. The main reason is because sideloading apps can involve a security risk and also because the app allows to circumvent YouTube ads which may be against YouTube’s terms of use.
