Developed by Open Source Matters, Inc and the Joomla Community itself, Joomla! is an open-source content management system written in PHP . It is built for website creators in making out the best of their applications and tools for their site. It is totally free and open-source with their github repository being visited by developers for its unending development.

not easy as beginner

Our first company website was built with Joomla. Eventually, we gave up on Joomla and migrated our site to Wordpress. Here's my review:

Pros:

  • For a technically experienced site developer, it has features, functions, modules & components that offer greater control over the site creation process

Cons:

  • The backend CMS was very difficult to use
  • Bugs were then not fixed fast enough
  • There were far too many reported security issues

Pros: easy navigation / free tools / ready to use
Cons: not that fast / layout

  • Free tools and tutorials are being provided
  • Websites can be created with ease
  • Absolutely free and open source
  • Perfect for small businesses and new content creators to experience cost-free website creation

  • Site's computational power might be low
  • The site functionalities might be limited
  • Plugin issues

  • Easy installation of plugins and modules.

  • Greater availability of plugins than Drupal (although less than WordPress).

  • Easy management and maintenance.

  • It is not easy to customize the functionalities or add custom functions.

  • Published plugins often present configuration difficulties due to version incompatibility.

  • The scalability of a website may be affected since it is not as flexible as Drupal.

  • Some plugins usually generate accessibility problems, therefore it hinders the accessibility validation often.

  • Constant updates to improve user safety.

Cons, look for them. There are some, for sure.

  • Easy to setup
  • Admin panel allows for multiple users like a community organization needs to be
  • I've used in my site, back then.

  • Maybe hard to update
  • My site got hacked once through Joomla, which is the reason why I don't use it anymore
